Hutch's Sliding Tackles

Last night Hutch was given a yellow card for a sliding tackle...IMO he was lucky it was not red... but it is not the first time, I can think of a few times when his timing has not been perfect and he has sent a player flying....with his sliding tackle...

He will really hurt someone soon if he keeps it up and it gives voice to fans and coaches of other clubs about our physical style of play.... Not sure how a player adjust to these things but two footed sliding studs up tackles should be removed from his game ...

f**k the other clubs, fans and pundits. I for one hail the strong, uncompromising and aggressive tackling.

We've got a little man for tricks and flair. He's Argie and appears to be made of balsa wood.

And then we've got a man for hardness and aggression. He's from Gippsland and he's made of toughest ironbark.

Don't f**k with Hutch.

The tackle was borderline ... but I didn't see it as studs up and would have been a travesty if it was a red.

He is a f**kin hack and besides that he cant play the football we want to play. When all you've got going for you is your "toughness" then its time to f**k off to Malta and play in the local league there.

It was a 2 footed lunge off the ball and he deserves a ban. Can't wait to see the back of him, the team is much better without him.

anyone else spot a pisstake?

anyway, he made a bad tackle, he should have at least got a second yellow, no issues there.

he's not a hack though, and i don't think he's past it. he's no perez, but that's not news. he is a useful and valuable player. he completed a lot of passes last night, and he was involved in most of the link play until amini came on. he was pretty effective, and the team as a whole didn't look as bad as they're being made out to have done.

we were beaten by a very good brisbane team. the main difference between the sides wasn't actually the passing, it was how well the roar transition from possession to not having possession - they don't mourn the loss of the ball, they immediately close down their opponents' spaces and they win the ball back very quickly as often as not.

*that* is the reason why their possession stats are off the charts more so than their passing and movement. we did better than pretty much any of the teams i've seen play them at hanging on to the ball and calmly playing out through heavy traffic.

if people think that hutch's link play wasn't crucial to that then they don't know football.

No pisstake Dibo.

He is a hack. He has done it before and he will do it again. A 2 footed tackle like that one has no place in our game.

FYI, it is not the second tackle which I was pointing out, its the one he got booked for. It was not intended to retrieve the ball, it was intended to upend McKay. No doubt about it.

I couldn't give a stuff how good or bad we play with him. A tackle like that deserves punishment.

FFS hutch stay on your f**king feet!

I don't think that is disputed, as it is crucial. The point is that we have seen Perez do that link play so much better. Hutch has an important role when on the pitch and does a better job than most we could thrown in that position. However he is destined for a bench spot.

IMO Amini should be the first port of call when Perez is out. He is the future. Would hate to see him leave to say NQ for game time cause hutch stands in his way.

Would we have lost that game by more if Amini started instead of Hutch? Who cares, get the boy game time.

I have no problem with genuine slide tackles, I have no problem with aggression but Hutch lost control through frustration at not being able to influence the game and resorted in the end to angry attempts to cripple any one in his way. Not acceptable. He is old enough, senior enough and should be aware of changes to the laws of the game that should tell him to control his aggression not let it run out of control. He's been a great servant to this club but is in danger of the standard and pace of the A League leaving him behind.

Massive, massive overreaction for two bad tackles. Other bad tackles have been made before without half the tears and rending of clothes.

Mile absolutely battered Seo one year - by the wailing on here I reckon people would be calling for Mile's head on a pike.

And what of Rostyn last night - not so much the foul on McKay but the afters were pretty ugly. Where's the lynch mob?
