Heffernan Update

Thought some of you might be interested in an update on Heffernen.

Huddersfield are now unbeaten since he arrived and he seems to have solved what has been a problem position for us all season at left back. We won 2-1 away against in form Carlisle United tonight and in my view Heffernen was one of our better performer's on the night.

He really does seem to be trying to get himself to South Africa for your national side this June and I'm sure he isn't doing his case any harm with his recent performances.

Anyway, jubilant after tonight especially as our local rivals Leeds United lost at home leaving us the only League 1 club to be unbeaten at home in the league this season with only Chelsea, Manchester City and Newcastle United sharing the same home record in all the English Leagues. We  play Leeds at home a week on Saturday as well and I hope Heffernen keeps up his good form for that one.

Anyway guys thought you might appreciate an update.

Cheers!!!!!!!!!!

A question for you lad..... (I'm living in Barnsley at the moment)

How much are your tickets??  And how close is your stadium to the station??

good to hear Heff doing well. Surely though little to no hope of making national team? How injured is Carney?

think again

with both carney and chippers struggling his odds are improving rapidly with ever good appearance at huddersfield

is playing more regular football than a large chunk of players above him in the pecking order

i agree with you but can you see Heff getting chosen over Chippers and Carney? I'm not too sure how much football either are playing but if they are fit come selection time (even if there not playing regular football), i can't see Pim choosing Heff.

But will Pim choose two crocks - or one crock and Heff?

Carney's hardly crocked, he hasn't been on the treatment table to  much, just struggled for first team time at his clubs.

He's already training I believe and due back at the start of March.  Lot will come down to whether he gets game time I imagine, but as others have said its very hard to see Pim not taking Carney + Chippers for that spot if they're both fit at time of selection.  There would also be some chance I suspect that if he decides to take Lowry as a backup CB that therefore is the extra LB cover as well, as thats where he was playing for.... was it Plymouth Argyle?

True - Carney is coming back from injury now. I'd still be doubtful picking both Chippers and him unless he plays regularly from now until May.

He hasn't played regular football since Feb 2008. Last year at Norwich and Twente he has a total of 16 games and the year before he hardly played after pissing off the gaffer at Blades.

much appreciated update shatterier.
Lowry is at Leeds...should be a good Aussie get together when Huddersfield play them - Kisnorbo (hey! if this dude has a show for a WC spot than so does Heff!!), Kilkenny and Lowry.
Delighted to hear Heff is doing well, I think English football is more suited to his high energy style. And the contenders for the left side of the Socceroos are Chippers (injured) Carney (recovering from injury) Steffanuto (injured) Kemp (injured) so the dominoes are falling his way.
As for Serious - living in Barnsley, what the...? Have you got the taste for Shippos yet?

I reckon Kisnorbo is a better player than Heff (notwithstanding the fact that he's playing in a different position where we have more options, and so probably has a tougher task making the squad).

Carney = shit.

Chippers is the goods, but there are few defenders laying overseas i would not play at LB instead of carney

I might be wrong but didn't Pim play Heff at LM in his first game and LB in the other?

Let me guess what for: the forward cuts inside Heff onto his wrong right peg and Heff dives in and slashes him down? :innocent:

By all reports, they were all awful, but Heff must have been the pick of the bunch.
Most players have an off game here and there... and Heff was always a player who would occasionally have a shocker. I think Huddersfield just experienced one such.

Huddersfield 2 Oldham 0
"Robinson pounced after 38 minutes when Terriers full-back Dean Heffernan swung in a cross which Oldham defender Reuben Hazell headed straight into the back of team-mate Dale Stephens and the ball fell kindly for Robinson, who produced a neat finish from close range."

Good to see the boy doing good :)
