I REALLY hope Matty is ok. Even if we rest him for our next two games and give Baird a run as we need him fit for the finals!

We played well in patches but struggled for last weeks confidence in the conditions I think - except Pedj who was FULL of adventure and had an outstanding game I thought.

All things considered I'd say we should have won, but everything bounced there way tonight - except the final result - which could have also! (I agree Strebre is barely a ref at all anymore!? Sincerely losing the plot) So all things as they were, like others I'll also will take the point.

Moving on...
Reds need at least a win and a draw to have a shot at second. And we need one more win to seal the deal...

COME ONE YOU YELLOOOOOOOWWWWW (and black)!!! :eek:verhead: :eek:verhead: :eek:verhead:
:ashamed:

. the team listings for this game had baird out injured for 3 weeks (knee too) ... so we don't really have that option. but agree - he should be rested for the mid-week game regardless

Agree, agree & agree.

Pedj was awesome tonight. Rostyn too. Ditto Perez.

I lost count of the terrible passes McBreen made, but a good goal from a super Rose cross.

Feel for Ryan though. He's got to work on removing howlers from his game. Drops the ball too much for my liking. But what a super save and general play after his cock-up though. Credit to him for not buckling under the pressure from the fans behind the goals.

I hope Bluetongue is packed against the Jets to celebrate our qualification for Asia and 2nd place. Can't wait to sing "Your seasons over..." to the Squadrunts.

I reckon Pedj got caught out defensively too many times last night. Their amount of balls from the left were staggering and if we give Brisbane that lattitude we will suffer another massive defeat. Rostyn was the real star covering for both Pedj and Rose when they got skinned.

Yeh I agree. They said it was probably a medial ligament which is not an ACL so I think that's not so bad. Or is it the posterior crutiate ligament thats not so bad?
PCL is pretty bad I'm sure.
The only difference with PCL compared to ACL and Medial is that it rarely occurs in sport...usually in car crashes and maybe skiing.
Medial damage can be bad, but it can also be mild...so it's my preference of the 3 :p
But I'd say Arnie will rest him for Gold Coast as a precaution if it's mild...and if it's serious- could be rest of season???

Arnold added about striker Matt Simon who injured his right knee: "Probably (out for) a couple of weeks, but the positive with "Simmo" is that he he's a very fit boy and he recovers from injuries very quickly so we'll keep our fingers crossed.

"He'll have a lot of treatment this week and hopefully recover quickly."

Hope he's back for the derby. If he's not fully fit I wouldn't risk him though.

Ok,so not the best of conditions & with a delayed start, some latitude has to be given for the standard of the game, which IMO was fairly lacklustre.

I agree with Scottmac that Pedj got caught out defensively to many times.Terra turned him inside out at times but conversely he did well in attack & if my eyes didn`t deceive me he even got a couple of step overs in! WTF?

Ryan must have been looking for a hole to crawl into after that goal.I think he was waiting for the ball to skid onto him but obviously didn`t think it would bounce.
TBH though Thommo has the ability (luck)to do things like that. I`ve known him since he was 12yo & he never ceases to amaze me.

Perez, who has grown in confidence over the last month, was disappointing . He drifted in & out of the game.Other than one or two runs where he drew a foul he wasn`t particularly good in the wet.

I`m not sure how Matty is,but without him up front we`re pretty ordinary.
McBreen is way to slow & to lazy.I know he scored but Rose actually made the goal with a great run & pinpoint cross.
I`ve seen players like McBreen before, hiding in the outfield.Second to the ball most times, jogging or walking around the park, pointing & directing other players, trying to look busy & involved.
He just doesn`t do it for me.

Bad Kwassie, well he was just a non event tonight.

I`ll take the point like everyone else but, if Matty is out for a couple of weeks i`m hoping either Baird is available or either Bernie or Duke is called up.
I don`t think McBreen or the Bad Kwassie can win us matches

Terrible conditions made for an average game but i still thought we were the better side.

Firstly, massive plaudits to the Mariners fans that made the trip and put on a great show of support throughout the whole game. I especially liked the Yellow dudes in the sailor hats....very funny.
The camera loved that Chinny bloke.

Ryan 5.5. Cost us the points again but the conditions were shocking and Bolton was lucky that the same thing didn't happen to him. Even though he does make too many errors its clear to see he is going to be an outstanding keeper in the future.
Pedj 7. Technically poor at times but gave 100% and his workrate is sensational.. He's my sons fav player and i can see why.
Wilko 7.5. Great Capts knock and outshone Dutchy for the second game on the trot.
Dutchy 7. Good game but could be a bit sharper at times.
Rose 7.5. Very good game and set up the goal beautifully. Possibly best LB in HAL.
WeeMac 6.5. Not bad.
Perez 7. At times shines like a beacon above everyone else in our squad and is a joy to watch with the ball at his feet. On the other side of the ledger gave the ball away to easily on 2 or 3 occasions.
Rostyn 8. Started very poorly for first 10 mins then got into it and was dominant for the rest of the game.
Olly 6.5. Lovely feet and great first touch but still panics far too much.
Simon 6. Didn't look on song but we are toothless without him.
McBreen 7. Brave on the goal and worked hard all night.

Subs: Kwas 4. Pathetic game. Best thing he did was Muscat style tackle.
Hutcho 5. Nearly cost us the game when lost the ball in great attacking position with the touch of an elephant.

MOM: Griffo 3pts
Rose 2pts
Wilko 1pt
