Gosford CBD set for boost with $500m in development applications lodged in August alone

Crying out for a government building for jobs, then surprised when they take the prime spot so they can have water views while laughing as they screw us all with an audit.

The CBD continues to be what is

The whole thing is that there will be (as I understand it) the ATO building *as well as* cultural or other buildings, yadda yadda yadda. The other buildings on the school site plus the direct waterfront precinct plus the Frogys site and the Union Hotel site will have a big addition to commercial space, restaurants and shops and whatnot - the idea is really to provide lots of different spaces which generate activity (i.e. money and jobs).

Oh, and more people will be living in the area, which means there will be more people to support the discretionary spend businesses (shops, restaurants, etc.).

The new pie shop on the waterfront claims to have taken $50k in his 1st week and employs 30 staff

It's a disgrace

Some disagreement over their interim occupation certificate though. TBH, I doubt Council got it as wrong as the bloke is claiming in the paper...

THERE has been no last-minute reprieve for the Gosford waterfront pie shop with council standing firm on its order for the operator to shut down.

“Reports there have been a last-minute reprieve are incorrect,” a Gosford Council spokesman said.

The Eat Street Cafe opened two weeks ago and owner Val Kovac said he was issued with an order to cease operating at 5pm yesterday by Gosford Council over compliance issues.

While Mr Kovac said the issues had been resolved with council late yesterday afternoon and that he would continue to operate, a Gosford Council spokesman confirmed this morning the order to cease operating stood.

The spokesman said the order related to around 15 noncompliance issues at the site.

Despite the order, the cafe was opened for business this morning.

“Most importantly, some of the noncompliance issues relate to the site’s sewerage system and food premises that could pose potential public health and environment risks to cafe patrons, waterfront visitors and Brisbane Water if they are not rectified,” the spokesman said.

He said following a council inspection earlier this month, the operator was directed to rectify a number of noncompliance issues at the site.

“An order to cease trading could have been issued around a week ago when the council became aware that the operator had illegally started trading without rectifying these noncompliance issues,” the spokesman said.

“Instead, the council had been liaising closely with the operator to work through these issues to try and minimise any impacts on this new business.

“This included the council serving a warning to the operator last Thursday that without compliance they would be required to cease trading.

Pies Peas and Mash has sold well at the pie shop on the waterfront.

“But, despite repeated requests for the issues to be rectified, the operator has so far failed to do so.”

Mr Kovac insisted the council had allowed him to open the business while he worked to address the compliance issues.

The council spokesman said a further update would be issued later today.

Sounds to me like Council's given them time and space to fix things and they've not done so. Wonder at what point non-compliance fines will outstrip the original cost of simply getting the issues resolved?

Bit rich to say you are busy. You won't be if you don't fix them ASAP.

I walked passed the other day. The sight doesn't look to bad.

In the article on daily telegraph no nice comments about the food.

V8 Supercars set to abandon Sydney Olympic Park for Gosford

" ... the proposed track will be located on the waterfront near Bluetongue Stadium, also running around streets past the Gosford Racecourse and the surrounding area.

The course is around 3.5 km and will have spectacular views across Brisbane Waters, the large inlet from the sea that Gosford's city centre fronts.

Gosford mayor Lawrie McKinna, the former manager of the Central Coast Mariners A-League football club, is backing moves to bring the V8s to the city.

McKinna was a guest of V8 Supercars at the Sydney 500 on Saturday. "

Another brand builder for Gosford. Would be a pain in the arse if you live near there though, and will screw people's commute for a week or more every year.

I'm very curious to see what the proposed racetrack layout is. If it's running up Racecourse Rd, then that's going to have an impact on Gosford Hospital. I would think that the hospital would be out of bounds as far as the racetrack design is concerned.

Maybe something like this?

Pit straight on Racecourse Rd, down the highway, over the bridge, past the Leagues and sweeping around past Iguanas before turning up onto Mann St, past Reviver, down Donnison and back over the Railway, down Riou to the highway, then up Hely St to Donnison (thus avoiding the ridiculous hills that would see cars getting *very* airborne) before looping back around to the Racecourse.

They could even build permanent pit facilities, and such a course would be a great length for racing ~5km.

Keeps it all on the south side of President's Hill too, so the Hospital would be protected, noise-wise.

Noise carries. Remember when they used to hold the speed boat racing on BW in front of Iguanas? We are 3.5 - 4 klms away in a straight line with a few hills in the way. We could hear the roar of the V8's from those. I reckon that the noise will be immense in a 5 klm. radius. I do like your projected course though. It would be great TV and great spectator stuff from so many points. Get onto it Lawrie!!

Not really. Ambulances wont be required for the event, they'll be crashing right on the doorstep of the ER.

What about incorporating going up and down to Kariong, that'd make for some great racing. Would be like our own mini Mt Panorama.

Just dont know where they'd be able to do the 'turn around' at the top to come back down.

Crazy. Why bother when this course already exists so close by?

If it were >3km, then it might be in with a shot.

But Gosford needs it far more than Terrigal.

Sorry that must need a sarcastic smiley.
Joke being laps of the shops at Terrigal is a pretty major past time for V8 drivers already.
Maybe that dhould be P8 drivers.

What was it in Chris lillys show - doing mainsys - or something.

Growth / regeneration of Gosford is vital I believe also.
