Word is that he has signed a four-year deal with Dortmund
Marriners 'disappointed' by Dortmund's initial offer for young gun Amini

German champions-elect Borussia Dortmund will need to come back to the negotiating table if they want to prise young gun Mustafa Amini away from Central Coast Mariners, with club owner Peter Turnbull describing their initial offer as 'disappointing'.
After spending more than a week on trial in Dortmund - where he left a significant impression on first team coach Juergen Klopp - Amini returned to Australia on Thursday with a lucrative long-term contract in his pocket. However the talented 17-year-old remains contracted to the Mariners for another year, and Turnbull insists he'll be staying to see out the deal unless Borussia Dortmund reconsider their evaluation of a transfer fee.
"We've rejected their offer, and it wasn't that hard to be honest," said Turnbull. "I can't give figures, but let's just say it was disappointing given Mustafa is probably one of the best young players we've seen in this country for a long, long, time. I talked it over with both our football department, and the FFA coaching staff, and everyone agrees his development at this stage would be best served by staying with the Mariners. He's going to the world youth championships in July, and he's already part of our first team, so there's a lot to look forward to."
Twelve months ago Amini joined the Mariners from Blacktown City as a youth team player, but opportunity came suddenly with star import Patricio Perez struggling for fitness in the early rounds of the competition. So well did Amini respond to the challenge that coach Graham Arnold ultimately handed him 23 appearances, including a start in the grand final.
Amini left for Europe with his agent, Buddy Farah, four days after the grand final - initially for trials with Borussia Dortmund and English premier league side Newcastle United. But Amini never made it to the UK, with Dortmund offering him a deal after just a few days. "He can definitely play football and is a really great talent," Klopp said.
Borussia Dortmund, however, have since offered a fraction of the $900,000 transfer fee they paid for Melbourne Victory keeper Mitch Langerak a year ago - a deal which also includes an extra $500,000 once he makes 25 first team appearances. That deal is likely to be used as a benchmark by the Mariners when the Germans inevitably revise their offer. Amini's agent, Farah, remains philisophical about the situation, saying it was up to the two clubs to come to an agreement.
Well I'm hoping we just get to see Amini play another season with us. Hopefully the Bakrie deal will come through and solve our cash problems. Getting fans to the games is the biggest challenge at the moment and Musti is currently our best drawcard for that...
Unfortunately, I am sure he is right...Just heard on TWG that Musti has agreed to "personal terms" with Borussia Dortmund and hopes to join the club in July. Mariners are holding out for the best possible deal. Musti thinks it's a strong possibility that the Mariners will agree to terms.
