ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

any expats (as in Aussie/Serbian or Serbian/Aussie) playing for Serbia?

Not that I'm aware of.

Danger players would have to be Ivanovic, Vidic, and Krasic.

what about Josip Simunic? Or is he playing for Croatia?
He is croatian.
Ivan Ergic is australian born serbian?
Not sure if he's a regular international though

btw there was an interview with your national coach on German tv this evening. He said that he was looking forward to the match against Germany as this was a very special match, considering that he was Dutch. He added that he has gained a lot of experience during the last 2 world cups and that he wanted to bring this in into his first world cup as head coach.

I thought that Spiranovic and Vidosic were Croatian/could play for Croatia as well?

Borrowed from the Melbourne forum.....

"The team to play Serbia:

------------------Galekovic---------------------
-Spiranovic----Ljubo------Popovic-------Skoko-
-------------------Culina-----------------------
---Jedinak-------Zadkovich---------Bresciano---
---------Viduka----------------Vidosic----------

Coach: Branko Culina"

Axe Galikovic for Serbian/Australian Vukovic and Bresciano is not a Yugoslav, he is Italian, I suggest he be demoted for that game for his background  :naughty:

Add Inter Milan playmaker Dejan Stankovic and 2m tall Nikola Zigic(plays for Valencia). Given time maybe even your own Zoran Tosic as well

I don't want to meet England in the WC round of 16 if we can help it. I think they have gelled under Capello. Prefer to have a freak group run, win the group and play probably the USA - still a quality side, and personally at least I'd enjoy beating the yanks (and think it is more likely) than the poms.

Unless of course England start slow and scrape through in second - you'd say it was likely based on the past - but I truly think they will blitz this year.

Enjoy beating the yanks more than the poms? Not me mate, no way.... NO FREAKIN WAY!!!!!

Beating a full strength England in the 2nd round of a World Cup would be the ultimate (apart from winning the whole shooting game). Beating England at anything is always so sweet. I couldn't give a crap about the USA (even taking into account what Arena has said in the past). I WANNA BEAT THE POMS IN THE WORLD CUP... not a friendly, not a mickey mouse tournament... THE WORLD CUP!

However, I do agree with your sentiment that beating the yanks would be easier. Ironically, if we cant win the WC, I'd love to see England win it. Go figure.

It has to be soon. The players for next weeks match in Brisbane are using the new training gear in camp, so maybe we will also see the new jersey next wed night.

Apart from Mick and I, are there any other coast fans going to Sth Africa?

AL Qaeda has put the American and British soccer teams directly in its cross hairs, circulating word online that the athletes are prime targets for an attack at the World Cup Games in South Africa in June, FOXNews.com reports.
The threats from al Qaeda target a range of teams competing at the World Cup, but the June 12 USA vs. England match, scheduled for live broadcast, is the terrorists top priority, according to threats published in an online Jihadist magazine.

The game is broadcast live. The stadium is full of a Crusader audience while the sound of a blast shocks the stands and turns the stadium on its head. God willing, there will [be] dozens and hundreds of casualties. 50 grams alone are sufficient for such an operation, reads a post on the online magazine.

The South African Ministry of Police said it was aware of the threats, and the US State Departments Bureau of Diplomatic Security said it was providing support as the host country beefs up security in preparation for the tournament.

"Diplomatic Security's Office of Anti-Terrorism Assistance has provided training to the South African Police Service in the run up to the 2010 World Cup," a Diplomatic Security official said in a statement to FoxNews.com.

The jihadist article said al Qaeda will focus on striking countries taking part in the Zionist-Crusader campaign on Islam, and it specifically mentioned the American, British, Nigerian, Slovenian, French, German and Italian teams as targets. The jihadist author, Ubada bin Al-Samit, said nothing could be done to prevent the attack.

South African Police Minister Nathi Mthethwa said his force has been preparing for any potential threats since 2004.
