ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

3.1 against numpties is not exciting. Great that we won but it's time we took the pre season seriously and started putting some game time into the starting 11.
Stick with it Wombie; tell Mossy he is not taking it seriously.

Sorry if I'm not excited.

Cernak is ordinary but Moss is trying to turn him into a decent signing.....it won't happen and it's called flogging a dead horse.

Sim was signed as cover at LB...fair enough. Are we seriously considering starting him in our Midfield?

WTF?

That's quite alright, you don't have to be :) ...
I know Sim was signed as a cover LB, but I remember, that there was some discussion on here at the time as well, that he was actually a LM(?) so playing him in mid doesn't stress me too greatly... To my mind, we had a similar thing going with Hearfield - and I think Sim is better, relatively speaking.

I don't think we're going to particularly disagree on Cernak though... Once that is said, Mossie hasn't given me any reason to not trust him yet, so I don't really have a problem with him playing Cernak, I'm figuring that one - or more - of the internationals, will fit in there come start of the season.

that's what I'm thinking, he's getting Cernak up to scratch as a squadie now while there's the opportunity but will mainly be using Mane, Kim and Vernes

Sim is called a "left side utility" in the match report on CCM. http://www.ccmariners.com.au/article/news-mariners-march-on-in-ffa-cup/1fz41o8slfjqe1mjht1e5z251b

The crowd was miserably small. :( Obviously the Olympic FC faithful don't travel? But imho there was more to it than that. The stadium doesn't look spectator friendly to me , football spectator friendly, that is. I think they must have been expecting more than the 1,500 ground capacity at Goodwin Park to move it there, but got a miserable 800 or so die-hards. Work day and all, but there is scads of ground parking available so that wasn't an issue.
In hindsight they would probably have been better off playing the game in the much more spectator friendly smaller oval next door to QE2, 2,500 capacity, spectators close to the action, and limited the ticket only sales to that capacity.

After all, they didn't use the large field to satisfy Foxtel's broadcast requirements, did they?

It was moved due to the lighting at Goodwin park not being up to the standard needed, and QSAC is some distance away from Goodwin Park.

OK, FFA decision, I guess. But lighting not up to whose standard? Not Foxtel, surely, as it wasn't telecast. Were there *any* highlights broadcast on Foxtel, goals maybe, as promised?

QE2 at Nathan is approx 10 kms. from Goodwin Park. By contrast, Terrigal is 12.5kms. from CCS.

There's a different view of distance in Queensland... I used to have a half hour commute into Brisbane and people thought I was nuts for living that "far" out from the city... They're right, although I don't think living half-an-hour out of the city is the reason ;)

:D
Australia's 2nd. biggest state, and they're concerned about a 10 km. hike for a one-off game of footy to support their team? It's not their daily commute, so why not do the trip? Google says about a 15 mins. for the trip anyway, so not even a half hour.
I reckon there were probably 800 CCM fans at the Wolves game although I wasn't there to see, just going on vision and reports.
I dunno, I think there's something else at play here. Maybe the FFA Cup just didn't grab the Olympic fans. Maybe they saw it as another deep Southern plot to belittle Queenslanders, eh Joh?

Bit disappointing Mane, Kim and Vernes (w/e) didn't play. Hopefully next FFA cup game.
Mane is, I think, over seeing his new bub. :) Probably be away for a week.
Kim took a knock last Friday vs. Roar. Being rested I guess.
Vernes, well, no idea. Maybe still getting up to speed?

Thought it was a pretty decent starting side. 6 players who will probably be in our first 11 (Reddy/Roux/Rosey/Ando/Boz/Caceres) 3 players who will be close (Dukey/Fitzy/Hutch) and 2 that need game time to show what they can do (Simmy/Cernak). Thought it was a pretty balanced line up to both get the job done and to get what we need pre season wise. The whole squad needs to be ready come round 1 so all players need some game time.

Scores one and sets up another, what more do you need, to come around and mow your lawn and wash your car?
