Both of Simon's cards were clear bullshit, and I think the 2nd was just unfortunate - barely even a foul, and there was no malice or anything there.
But the first one showed why he's not captain material. Now, I still maintain it wasn't a card - but it was a foul, he stepped back and into the opponent.
But he's having argy bargy with him before, he's mouthing off at him in front of the ref, he's chased him across the park - at this point, he has one thing on his mind and that's painfully clear.
So...okay, maybe it's justified as the sort of card where the foul itself wasn't worthy of a card, but that it was clearly the culmination of a few minutes of f**kwittery and intent.
But the captain needs to be better than that. He can't be so immature that he runs around mouthing off at players and chasing them into the box to ruin an attack on a cheap shot.
Simon also needs to realise that every referee despises him. We see him constantly get fouled off the park, nothing - and he only has to look at a player to cop a card.
He needs to be professional and smart enough to realise he can't fight that, so he needs to change his behaviour to be impeccable.

Or...... he needs to hand in the armband because he's not worthy of it and sit on the f**king bench. If he watches that back tonight and sees himself mouthing off at the Adelaide defender (that eventually causes him to get the first yellow) in front of the ref and doesn't feel major guilt then he can f**k right off and wipe his ccm record from the books.
The second yellow is clear as day. Jumps across the defender leading with his forearm and collects his mouth. Clear yellow.

On a positive note, Silvera & DeSilva are going to be a delight to watch this year. Especially with quality like Milan and Kim behind them. Really looking forward to that.

Same. I got caught up dealing with some things this afternoon, found out at 5mins to 5pm that the discount price ends at 5 - went to buy but ticketek making me login in or sign up pushed it just over the 5 oclock mark and now $15 tickets become $26.25 with a $6.25 'processing fee'

Funny that a red card decision was all that was needed to open us up. I remember a number of them last year doing the same thing. Shows Staj that even though the roster has changed and he's won a few in a row the mental fragility remains. I envisage a very tough week in front of the boys.

What can you say ... Matty words fail me ..

Our 3 little mid guys are awesome and with a half decent striker we will go a long way ... but with Matty & Murray we will struggle to score...

An observation is when we got in front we started to fall back in defence and allow them to run ... we stopped closing down from about the 70 minute mark...

Keeper looks good, backs played well... Clisby gives away a lot of ball ..

IMO its simple make Kim captain ... drop Matty and if in doubt bring on the academy striker to replace Matty ..

He had less than 1 minute from Simon's idiotic second yellow to the equalizer. After that you need to score and there was nothing on the bench.
We've blamed the coach for the last 5 yrs. It's not his this time. It's purely Simon's

Agree on Clisby. Very disappointing. Gets forward alot but creates major risk.

Matty threw any planning out the window. And you’re right about nothing on the bench, what did we have to throw at them? If we’re going to play 2 strikers we need more attacking options.

And even after we went one all, don’t we try to just close shop and double down on defensive players and hope to make it to pens or score a set piece?

How is it the ref ruined that. Matty ruined that by inviting that decision. We've got nothing on the bench to influence that game. Why make a sub when it's not going to be effective.
Silvera Oar Desilva and Milan, even gassed are more effective than mcglinchy or majok.
And I'm guessing that GG was there just in case of emergency as he's not fully fit.

Pure frustration from me, the best we have played in years only to be undone by a soft red card and not making any subs. Duric clearly struggling after 75 min, we played well up until that point.

All our mIds busted a gut and played great games - barring Muzz. But agree, we needed some fresh legs surely.

We also needed a bloody striker. Even if Matty was still starting, would you keep him on past 60 when he’s already on a yellow if you have a half decent striker on the bench?

The ref only had eyes for one player because that player has consistently got the attention of the refs. In this game and last year.

Yes, the refereeing was blatantly one sided tonight.

But Matty has created this environment for himself. He will be targeted by opposition defenders, and refs will be expecting retaliation. He will get a huge number of cards this year, and it’s all his doing.

Captains don’t fish for yellow cards and get pointlessly sent off when you’re on top in a match. It’s always a high possibility with matty. You can call it ref bias or whatever.
He gets himself into these situations regularly. No excuses, he needs to change how he does things. Pull his f**king head in.
He took away our fighting chance.
Adelaide were good but we were better and that was so refreshing. Oh no wait, matty has to have his input.
If Staj has pulled in DDS’s mindset he needs to do more with matty.

But anyway, everyone else was excellent. Very good signs and we look in good shape. Hopefully Kim is fit for next week and matty needs to be atleast benched.

As much as watching us snatch defeat from the jaws of victory hurt, what made it all the more painful was having to be sat right behind the Chief Scummer and his grub of a Henchman.

Especially after the shitty stunt they pulled unfurling a Jets banner in our stadium.

Just watched a replay and there is no foul by Simon at all for second yellow, ref ballsed it up big time. The only thing you could say is he put himself in that position by getting the first yellow.
Very happy with the teams performance, should be a much better year to watch
