The independent Match Review Panel (MRP), chaired by Barry Such, met in Sydney today to consider incidents arising from Round 17 of the Hyundai A-League.

The MRP determined the following:
A sanction of one (1) match for Dylan Macallister (Central Coast Mariners) for his R6 Red Card for "use of offensive, insulting and abusive language".  This is the minimum sanction for this offence under the Hyundai A-League Disciplinary Regulations.
The MRP accepted it had authority to intervene in the matter between Joel Griffiths (Newcastle Jets) and Jon Hutchinson (Central Coast Mariners) as the incident escaped the attention of the referee.  However, after reviewing all footage, the MRP unanimously determined that neither player was guilty of a Red Card offence.
In relation to the incident between Danny Allsop (Melbourne Victory) and Sydney FC Head Coach, John Kosmina, the MRP accepted the matter did not escape the attention of the referee as it was ruled on by Matthew Breeze at the time it occurred.  Accordingly, the MRP has no authority to intervene.

Football Federation Australia (FFA) has today issued notices to Newcastle Jets and Central Coast Mariners alleging Team Misconduct arising out of the conduct of its players after their match last Friday night.

Under the Hyundai A-League Disciplinary Regulations, FFA can sanction a Club for Team Misconduct when its players engage in a melee. Each club has until the end of Friday 2 January 2009 to respond. Sanctions can include a reprimand, a fine or a deduction of points or a combination thereof.

The logic of these clowns leaves me a little baffled (as usual)

The MRP accepted it had authority to intervene in the matter between Joel Griffiths (Newcastle Jets) and Jon Hutchinson (Central Coast Mariners) as the incident escaped the attention of the referee

(so there was an incident that the ref missed?)

However, after reviewing all footage, the MRP unanimously determined that neither player was guilty of a Red Card offence

(oh no, there wasnt really or maybe only a yellow card offence that the ref missed)

Farcical.

See this as a blessing in disguise.

Newcastle cannot win without Sackwacker and we need them to win as many games as possible.

In so tight a comp, what we need from anybody might sadly become academic if we get points deducted for 'Team Misconduct'.

Can imaging FFA doing just that to try and help Sydney sneak into 4th spot

Sounds like an 'old soccer' outcome to me.

Why is SackerWacker so protected? Is it because the wanker won the POTY last year, and they are too embarrassed to sanction him?

Some blue words in earshot of only the players and officials - Red card
Strangulation - please feel free to attempt in full view of 10k+

Very strange decision and gutless decision.

Strange and gutless, the 2 qualities the FFA seem to be looking for from the MRP.

So Breeze saw Allsop drop his shoulder into Kossie and decided to ignore it. That he was wrong seems to be irrelevant. The MRP dont have the balls to correct a mistake

TO PARAPHRASE MYSELF FROM ccmarinersforever.ning.com..... hmmmm maybe its because it was joel griffiths, cause we all know that sack of shite can do anything and not get carded...slapping the linesman in the lower nether regions for an example...he got a yellow for that ...FFAARRKKK MMMEEEEE......near as i can tell hutcho wasnt doing anything that required a stern talking too let alone a card of any kind, he did kick a ball into the crowd at full time..but that was hardly worth that slimey little girly girl marquee arsehole running over and starting a ton of shit....but anyway...back to the review board...IF your not gonna rule on obviously blatant shit..i.e attempted strangulation...give it away because if ya cant determine a card on that then you got no chance of working out if someone simulating cost the opposition a finals berth or whatever

:vhappy: :vhappy: :naughty:

...So now the club has to answer to the FFA and the person who started it all, Hutcho, will have to answer to the Gaffer and the club head honchos...sure, Griffiths is a plonker but please take the blinkers off, people!!

All Hutcho did was kick a ball up so that it came down harmlessly into the crowd. Nothing to answer for. Griffiths started the melee and strangling a Mariners player but get's off. McAlliser utters a few expletives and cops a one match ban. I am truly over the persecution of our club.

The last time these f**k knuckles went after us, Danny copped 6 months. Milligan is apparently allowed to poke the ref and nothing is done. Griffiths is allowed to strike an AR and nothing is done. Alldonkey drops his shoulder into Kossie and nothing is done.

(Theres a pattern forming here)

Maybe we should be thankful that the squad wasnt sentenced to be shot
