Dare I speak..is it too soon,

Before the season started I believed we were a chance to make the six based on we had a true number 10 coming… most had us and Fury fighting for the spoon…. As always our cry from year one .
””” Nobody Rates Us
We Don’t Care”””

We are now a real possibility of taking out second place and thus in good position to make the grand final. I guess the question becomes are we good enough to take the toilet seat.

This comes down I guess to our relative strength against the other five teams in the finals.

The Pussy Cats [mew mow] will take the premiership and have slayed all before them this year to me must be the favourite to take the title. However in the last 25 mins of the first half and the first 15 mins of the second half in our last game our midfield had them on the rack. I honestly think we can beat them.

Fold, Fark they are building an impressive squad how all under the salary cap I don’t know and Fall Over Boy is showing the best form he ever has. IMO a huge danger and I would not want to play them in the GF they just have class all over the park and are starting to pull together as a team. Fat Tony seems to be taking a back seat these days and it appears to be paying off.

Inbreds, in red [no pun intended] hot form and have also brought cleverly in the January transfer window.. will be very hard to beat and would not to play a GF in Adelaide giving some importance to keeping second place..

I cannot see the Tards, Fart , Sheepshaggers, or Scum getting to the GF… not saying impossible but IMO highly unlikely …

Our strengths, goalkeeper improving each week and as good as any from the other teams, Defence strong very strong we defend the centre of the park and the box and leave the flanks open and close down near our line only.. suits our team with Olly & weeMac both pushing in to help protect the middle leaving Perez or Amini to play a true number ten role … our midfield is the best in the league on balance … Up front we struggle however remember GA played for Australia as a striker and Matty & Kwassie just keep getting better, but they are our weakness when you look at what fire power other have especially the Fold … would love the midfield to start scoring more however that’s another question…

So do we have a side who can bring home the toilet seat … we have the coach… as a side issue a big congs to our medial team , under Clarkly they have keep the team on the field and GA resting of players last week against Perth was very clever and as GA said the other week Clarkly and his team a big part of our success this year…

Go the Mariners

our best chance of winning the toilet seat is grabbing second spot and then making the grand final, anything can happen in a gf and especially considering our team knows they can beat brisbane and adelaide

Yes we can.

Though of course the problem with finals is that in one off games anything can happen - especially with refereeing still ummm... lets say _developing_ in this country.

The Reds and GCU have definitely strengthened their squad... but we also have lots of quality on the park and there is a notable difference in our system of play and cohesion for mine. This cohesion should not be underestimated as it takes time to truly develop and makes for that magical understanding which brings out the truly great performances and plays.

It has been such a joy to watch us develop this season, moving from strength to strength - whereas even in our premiership winning season we still waned at the end... Only Roar have looked more cohesive overall than us this year. Their loss of Devere will be significant I believe, however they will still very likely be the team to beat as once McKays back they will begin to truly recapture their movemnet and balance again. We won't dominate the midfield as well as we did last game with McKay back on the park.

So yes, we can beat any of them. But our goal needs to be second spot - beat Roar and host. Then we will have a very good chance at the seat and also of going to Asia.

Re: Refereeing

Maybe as a start we could replace ms Asia linesman with sian massey?
she atleast seems to know the offside rule. .

on other things, we have been just a bit to inconsistent to covincingly beat roar,
the main difference. not saying we cant but im not putting any dollars on it yet. . .
up you yellow!

well well well i hate doing this but we are more than a good thing i think of making it to the gf. Winning it well anything can happen on any day. We are good enough but so are the roar. The rest i dont rate, but nobody rates us either. My question is were will the gf be played correct me if im wrong but it is played at the home ground of the first team in? If this is the case is Suncorp going to be ready or will bluetounge be big enough if its one of these teams. I think if we make it a packed bluetonge would be better than a half full sfs. A lot of if and but but i cant help get excited come on mariners lets win the gf and stick it up everyone no one rates us but we dont care.

I understand why you would post those links Bex but this is not 2008. A lot has changed since then and in all honesty if we were first in (with the scum and shitney looking as though they will miss out on finals all together) the FFA would be taking a massive gamble playing a CCM v interstate team at the SFS. The largest amount of travelling fans you could expect would be 1000 - 2000 max.

You would only be guarenteed a sellout at Bluetounge.

So half empty SFS for the showpiece over full rockin bluetounge? Easy choice.

I understand why you responded that way, but if you'll notice I did not put an "[/end thread]" at the end of my post. Feel free to discuss; I was simply providing some reference material that may be of interest to anyone who wasn't on here in 2008.

Bluetounge full would be a great sight and the noise would be fantatic but we are talking about the ffa they will more than likely put it at suncorp no matter what just to f**k us over.

ok cool. I get in trouble for assuming things and I have done so again here. Sorry :grouphug:

If the FFA forget about the short term dollars and play it at BTS the spinoff in attendances long term will be worth it.

A full BTS plus an overflow area in the park across the road, plus a buzzing waterfront area would change the dynamic on the coast and bring back the fans that were disillusioned with the decision by the FFA in season 3.
