Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Congrats to Newcastle.

I would have congratulated Newcastle for their usual '1-0' victory, and was about the stay for the presentation, but after the disgraceful way their shit players, namely D'apuzzo, Bridge and a few of their Bogans (Hearfield/Hoffman), acted infront of the Marinator's Cove it was disgraceful. Show some class you f**king scum.

As for that handball, after countless replays on FoxSportsNews it was obvious it should have been a penalty, although from my view at the front end of Bay 26 (the low gradient at the SFS is shocking to say the least), I didnt even notice it to be honest.

I'm disappointed to a certain extent, but to me Football is about winning the League, and we've already done that. It would have been nice to add the Cup to our trophy cabinet but that wasn't to be. We also have Asia to look forward to.

Vukovic faces possible life ban for hitting the ref!

My boyfriend was at the match tonight (in yellow) although he normally doesn't watch a-league... He stated that Shields had no control over the game... 2 fights, 1 at the beginning and 1 at the end, does not equal a good ref... He should have had control...

Congrats to Jets, unfortunate ending to a wonderful year for us Mariners, but at least we didn't loose by lots...
btw- I was in the ladies when the goal happened... who did the handball? was it Holland? Also what did Vidmar do wrong? was it to do with the goal???

What a day to prove Craig Foster right!! truly awful peformance, our midfirld almost anonymous, no penetration down the flanks (why was the languid Owens chosen over Gumprecht??) and no service to the front men. After Newcastle two might-have-beens early our back four looked really solid until Viddie's error. Nicely taken by Bridge, though. Clear handball but if the ref doesn't see it he can't call it but quite simply we were the poorer side on the day. As for Vukovic - he must be challenging the Mariners' no dickheads policy. And finally, how disgusting that the Newcastle neanderthernals should boo the Mariners during the presentation - no wonder they are called 'The Scum'. oh, BTW - still proud to be a Mariner!

First of all congratulations to scum. They were the better side and deserved to win regardless of Shields.

Unfortunately, our boys just didn't turn up today. I can't say one of them had a great game, because they didn't. They were very, very flat.

Shields missed two penalties with JA having his sirt tugged by whomever, I can't remember, as well as the Holland handball.

I'm disapponted with our boys behaviour towards the end. I can understand their frustration and anger but it went overboard. I think it's extremely important to lose with dignity whether we were ripped off or not.

If Danny has struck the ref, he and the club can have no complaints with any ban, although I will temper this by saying, I'd like to see footage of the incident first.

When it's all said and done, the better team won regardless of the two penalties (and I hate saying that, sometimes you just have to admit it though).

To Thomas, Timmy and Newieutd you have every right to be proud of your club and enjoy the celebrations however long the last.

Congratulations Newcastle. It just wasn't the Mariners' night. A drastic change in performance from our last match against the Jets!

Way down in Bay 27, we really couldn't see the action up the other end. Couldn't quite see the Newcastle handball, but received several texts from Foxtel viewers to say it should have been a penalty. But the Vukovic incident we missed completely. Was it really serious enough to warrant a long spell on the sidelines? That's tragic.

This would affect Danny's Olyroos appearances as well?

If he's suspended, he doesn't play.  He wouldn't be able to get a game playing premier league on the coast, let along representing Australia in international football.

Just watched the incident on Foxtel and Danny knew he was in trouble as soon as he hit Shields hand. He hit and took off and looked back later. When he saw Shields' hand heading for the top pocket Danny wasnt hanging around and he was heading straight for the early showers.

Lads,
after watching the game i felt obliged to post something here. I'm a sydney fan ( proud member of the SCC) but tonight i was cheering for you lot, you'd been the best team all year and deserved the win. Unfortunatley Shield got you guys as he did us. as for Danny i feel sorry for him, in the circumstances any humans temper would have flared cause that was a clear handball. You guys have come a long way this year, and 2 grand final appearances in 3 years is something to be proud of.
Have a good off season and see you next season.

Thanks Scotty. That's a nice post and good of you to do so.

It's moments like this that we all need to realise that we have more in common than not in common.

Most of us all have the same wish and goals and that is for Football in Australia to enjoy the popularity and success the beautiful game deserves.

Cheers mate.

Rubbish.  Pure, unadultered rubbish.

An inflexible 4-4-2, a stale midfield and no urgency except from Hutch, and Gumps and Tommy when they got on.

Danny - you tried mate, pity your captain didn't stand up for you when it was needed (i.e. the whole game)

Wilkinson - what the f*ck??

Boogs - kinda anonymous, but a bit 'eh'.

Vidmar - IMMENSE performance from a true legend of the Australian game, his hour or so was f*cking amazing.  Best on field for mine.    Yes, the goal was semi his fault, but so what??  Was he as bad as Wilko, Ceccoli, Owens, or Aloisi??  Not by a longshot.  I will NOT hear a bad word spoken of him - let the great man retire in peace.

Ceccoli - a Sydney mole planted by the FFA??  :p

Owens - oh my....... him and Grand Finals are not friends.

Hutch - stood up and tried to be creative, but when the other forward playing types are just sorta mulling about "eh, whatever", then he's just let down.

Jedinak - his usual great self, but a bit quiet.

Kwasnik - *sigh*

Sasho - *double sigh*

Aloisi - What a let down.  More proof that him and Sasho do _not_ work together.  Big game bottler??

Tommy and Gumps - the very thought of letting these two go sickens me.  I don't give a flying rats arse if one spends too much time with something he "shouldn't" - EVERY EFFORT NEEDS TO BE MADE TO KEEP THESE TWO PLAYERS HERE!!!!!  Tommy P is out best player, no questions asked.  And Gumps' influence on the team cannot be underestimated - there is firing up-ness and experience in that man that you cannot buy.

McKinna - *triple sigh*  Starting to wonder about the long term in relation to him.......

No worries , and we do have alot in common, a hatred for mark shield, a hatred for Melbourne Victory and a desire to see australian football flourish!
You guys travelled really well, jets travelled well and its a credit to both sets of fans how you celebrated chanted and got behind the lads!
Honestly though i was at the cricket and watched nearly all of the grand final on a tiny bar screen the general consensus with every sydney fan i ran into was that we wanted you lot to win.
Unlucky really.

haha and thanks serious14 some of us can see more to football than flares and fighting! you guys respected our stadium and our city so we ( well i) respect you

Shit man, we're going to steal that bar and put it behind Bay 16 up here - I honestly think 99% of us today were very jealous of the setup.  I literally watched the entire game standing right up against the wall directly behind the back row of Bay 23, in awe of what the Cove gets to have every week.  I also think that quite a lot of us ended up in that carpeted section as well, because it was pretty full from 90 minutes before kickoff until full time.  Completely awesome.

Re: the game in general - I'm really not that bothered.  I said on here earlier in the week that I prefer the league over the Grand Final and that feeling hasn't changed.  Just disappointed at how awfully sh*t we were.
