ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Condition of Pitch

What was wrong with the pitch last night  ???

From bay 6 you could see the faint lines and logos from the league match, but that was a week and a half ago, and you could also see brown patches here and there.

Certainly looked bad from where I was and on the big screen

The pitch was at it worse last night, Rugby League World Cup destoryed last week and it looked better than it did then. The ground staff need to move swiftly to get it fixed for the next game.

They are supposedly removing the current surface and returfing the pitch with Couch during the 3 weeks break.

Is there some sort of minimum standard of pitch quality that Bleutongue is supposed to deliver as part of our contract/deal/arrangement with them?

Bluetongue Stadium released a press release on Saturday night apologising to the club for the poor state of the pitch. They said the old winter grass would be replaced with the new Couch grass and it needs time to settle. They said that BlueTongue stadium had been over used in recent times and had not had the opportunity to fix this problem earlier. They promised a better playing surface for the match against Qld in 3 weeks.

Well thats good of them to admit that it wasn't up to standard, though by all accounts they couldn't NOT admit it.

. agreed, but i did think it played surprisingly well considering the way it looked - thought things could have got really ugly (football-wise and injury-wise)

. i have absolutely no idea what the stadium has been used for besides the mariners to make it 'over-used', other than the rl wc match can anybody else elaborate?

. doesn't look good if the mariners are looking at management rights with the aim of 'maximising' its use as had been mentioned in the past

The pitch looked fine on the original night the game was to be played. So the postponing no doubt threw their plans out a bit

Artificial pitches should be used all over Australia.
Reduction in water usage, quality playing surfaces and these days the fake grass is not different from the fake gear. Was it a youth game or a w-league game that was played on Artificial surface recently?
In a drought sticken land, artificial pitches are the way to go.

We can expect another crap pitch tomorrow night at Telstra Dome.

A music superstar is upstaged by, well, his stage

EVEN before the first bow slide across his Stradivarius strings, and before nearly 400 performers take to the stage, some of the most spectacular elements of Andre Rieu's performance will have already taken place.

*edit*

First task was to smother that grass with thousands of aluminium plates. Simultaneously, in front of the stadium's functional western end, began to rise a life-size replica of the front section of Vienna's Schoenbrunn Palace.

Two fountains are now being tested in what would have been the forward pockets, and both sides of the palace front will feature ice rinks totalling 600 square metres.

It is a 700-tonne stage set worth close to $6 million and so big that it took 220 shipping containers to bring it from Holland.

Putting it together has taken more than a week, with the construction workforce peaking last Saturday at 350, about 200 of them specialists from Europe.

The Docklands stadium has never known anything quite like it; even for its two previous biggest concerts by U2 and Robbie Williams, the sets were relatively restrained.

*edit*

But only since he has arrived in Melbourne is Rieu coming to realise the significance of the turf on which he is standing.

"I now realise this is holy ground. Depending on how much damage is done, we are going to have to pay for the cost of replacing this grass."

How much will that cost?

"A lot."

LOL at suggestions it would be moved with only 24 hours notice

I've picked a draw in this 1 but Archie always plays well when he plays against us, his pace against our defence is a worry.  I think Matty and Dyl will cause plenty of trouble though, this could be another epic Mariners game!
