ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Coaching Opportunities in NSW

I was going to ask this on the other part of the forum as it isn't really CCM related but there doesn't seem to have been much action on there.

In the UK I am completing a degree in community football development (coaching mainly). I want to come over to Australia in the summer to gain some extra coaching experience. Does anyone know of any companies or people who could help, that offer these sort of chances or anywhere that would be welcome to have me come over to coach.

A lot of companies I have found so far ask for a lot of money up front, I know this won't be cheap to do. But I am thinking of doing some fundraising to get some money to help fund this, therefore do you guys think this is a good idea and do you have any fundraising ideas?

Once again, thanks for any input and help. And hopefully I will be able to also take a trip to the Bluetongue if I can make it over :)

Thanks

yes and exactly why we won nothing in those days ;) Can I suggest you try calling the club and asking the staff to give you the number of someone in coaching and try calling directly. If you have skills in community management I'm sure the club could need some assistance ! best of luck in Australia.

I can't let that go by! Premiers 2007-08! Plus two Grand Finals.

Premiers...that's equiv gallant losers if you don't go on and win the main one ....in my mind we were the real Champions under Arnie

Premiership/winning the league is the big one.
Toilet seat is a mini cup and worth less than the FFA cup now.

Anyone who disagrees is a philistine.

I have the feeling that the theme of this thread is about to change markedly :tinfoilhat:

Yeah I think that too... The Mariners were successful during that time. So I see no problem as to why CCM is a community club and therefore encourages interaction with the community and being successful.

The coaching structures in football down here are very different to the UK. A lot of the "coaching" schools are privately run business that charge significant $ and are not focused on community development so not sure they would fit what you are looking for. There is no where near the structure of community based programs that there are in the UK with all of the different funding from clubs, FA, Gov etc. NRL, AFL and Cricket certainly seem to have programs far more similar given the $ they command.

The A-league clubs do tend to have community offices so I would recommend getting in touch with each of them but also try the FFA to see if they have any recommendations. Some of the regional associations do have the community roles but I am not sure how strong the FFA to local association connection is, it does not seem to be very good from the outside as opposed to the UK where things seem to flow well between the FA and Associations (or did when I left) so contacting those directly may also be another path. The other place that might be of interest speaking with although again a private set up is the International Football School here on the Central Coast to see if there is anything of interest there.

I'd try the premier league clubs. On more if a work experience type thing.
You could try the CCF or the NYL teams. Not sure the A league teams will have time for you unless you are connected to the right people.
There is some course that muscat and mossy were doing together you could look that up and try them as a source.
Good luck

Thanks pal! I'll have a go in the next week... Hopefully will get somewhere.

Nearly 2 years on I am still looking for coaching vacancies... I have had little help from Football NSW and other federations. The main question I'm asking them is "Are my FAW (Football Association of Wales) qualifications valid in Australia?" many of them just either choose to not answer this or clearly misread what I am asking and point me towards coaching qualifications with the FFA.

Do anyone know from experience do they accept qualifications from abroad to work in football? I have found a few jobs in the Sydney and Canberra areas working in academy club set ups.

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)
