ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

I kind of suspect this might not amount to much, maybe a new sponsor or something. Hoping it's as Gatty suggests though.
I like the idea of a consortium. Mike Charlesworth while not everyone's favourite owner has kept us going. If we are to go to another owner I like the idea of a cashed up consortium. Then if someone steps away there are others still involved.

He said during the Doco was that his dream was for investors to buy shares. Maybe that's what is finally happening.

I think this may explain Dick’s departure. These things don’t happen overnight and he knew it was going to happen so left before the season so there will be a clean transition. The Dick haters will probably not acknowledge the fact he may have done us good though. When I spoke with him it was clear MC and Dick were constantly looking for investors etc. why would he hang around if someone wanted the lot and not just a share. If he stayed he stopped the deal.

Not the case from what I have heard, more like he jumped before he was pushed is my understanding

I think I've said this elsewhere or earlier but its suspicious that we've been searching for investors and now after Dick leaves there's a consortium interested? Either they didnt want to be in partnership with him for whatever reason or the buy in price up to this point has not been appealing. Maybe both but either way the timing suggests something.

Yeah but is that also from a Dick hater. From what I seen on tours in Asia MC and Dick were pretty close. Dick only had one year left and probably didn’t have ambitions to fund the club long term since his kid couldn’t make it.

MC because Dicks presence was jeapordising the deal with Borg?
Dick was only doing a care taker role, easier for him to walk away and allow another deal for MC than commit to funding the club long term. I don’t believe the he was pushed story. He had two of the best years the club has had in 20 years, easy to walk away with a good story if you deep down don’t want to run the club for the next 10 years.

Possible. I know a lot of people who refused to deal with Dick.
We seem to be signing a lot of new deals. Perhaps the past deals were not that great for the club but people don’t like change. Polytek is apparently the best sponsor deal the club has ever had. Why were they not on board earlier???

My guess and repeat is guess.

My guess is RP n MC deal had three years or a upper limit on what he would put in. He reached that level and did not believe APL could turn things around so he pulled the plug.

There would have been many things in process my guess including Borg.

If Borg are the buyer and come on-board it will turn the club around and a huge congrats to MC for pulling it off
