ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

A 'serious' take on the Superclassico......

Niagara Park Youth Centre, 7.35pm AEDT, 2-3-09.
Dinamo Marinators (3) vs. Real Marinators (2).

With a fevered buildup and a roaring capacity crowd, the third, and arguably most controversial Superclassico of the season was played under the Niagara lights tonight.  In the end, it was the poise of Dinamo's very own Tommy P, the one and only Grego, that saw Dinamo home with a late goal in a thrilling 3-2 win that was marred by a Matthew Breeze-esque refereeing performance from the Football NSW official and 2 (deserved) late red cards for Real.

First Half

The game commenced at a thunderous pace, with both teams engaging in short and sharp passing games that saw some early shots on goal and some silky skills down both wings. Dinamo proceeded to dominate towards the mid point of the first half, only to have a goal scored against the run of play by Real.  This sparked Real into life and the contest became far more even towards half time, which only made Dinamo's first goal that much more special - a sensational one-two move between the Bad Bullz themselves which resulted in Grego smashing home his shot to take the game to halftime at 1-1.

Second Half

Dinamo leapt back into the game after the break, with a 5 minute spurt reducing Real to long ball attacks and frustrated tackling in defence.  It was at this point in the game that relations between Real and the referee started to detoriate, with MarinerMick and Bearinator the chief culprits in these discussions.  In the background of the referee losing control over proceedings (shades of Matthew Breeze in the HAL Grand Final mere days ago), Dinamo went ahead 2-1 to a Petrovski-esque poachers goal from one Brian Glasgow (who??).  The cheekiness of the goal (an intercepted goalies clearance) was matched only by the Superbowl like celebrations from Dinamo's Bad Bullz.  From here, things got truly interesting.....

* Accusations of diving by both parties
* Controversial free kicks being awarded for innocuous fouls
* Tackling that would not be out of place in the English Championship
* Language that many in FIFA would frown upon

Surely the hallmarks of a true derby??  Truly confirmed when Mariner Mick disgraced himself by getting booked twice in the space of 30 seconds after a free kick was awarded against him.

All of this was only exacerbated in a breathtaking final two minutes, with Real claiming a controversial goal (many say the ball had already crossed the by-line), only for my personal pick for man of the match, Grego, to steal the victory for Dinamo with a smashing shot from all of 35 yards (;)).

Wild celebrations from Dinamo's legions of supporters ensued (flares may or may not have been ripped), and to compound the misery for Real, their brick wall defender Bearinator was shown Real's second red of the game for "interpretive discussion with a match official".

Fulltime saw a fullscale pitch invasion, at which point the players had to be escorted from the field and protected from their out of control supporters, a fact that many News Limited journalists will be sure to pounce on.

One can hardly wait for the next Superclassico - surely the football world's greatest new rivalry??
