Chants - Feedback & Suggestions

Yellow Army ... just giving some feedback on last night ... best ever crowd in terms of response so tho we could create a thread where feedback and suggestions could be given to you guys from folk who sit in the stands...

Normally I am in bay 42 but last night was in bay 23 much closer...

The megaphone ... yep heard it for the first time great investment...

Chants

Chants that got picked up by the stands very quickly

The time honoured ... Mariners clap clap clap
From RBB... Who do we sing for .... we sing for yellow
WE Follow ..... Mariners...
We are champions
Stand Up and Cheer ... Worked a treat as we heard the call ...

Suggest slight change..

Clap Clap Coast ..... seems there is a change in speed and noise as you go tho a sorta of cycle kinda confused many ... maybe keep it at the one speed beat whatever ... many seemed they wanted to join in but could not get the speed ...

The .. We Love you .... seemed way to hard for most to pick up [see suggestions latter]

Observations...

Many wanted to join in but not constantly me thinks we area while away from having the stands in constant or semi constant responding... not sure where it lies maybe suck and see what works..

Little one ... the stands seem to react to the one word response..

Suggestions

These maybe impossible or need another 500 or so YA folk ... but for what it's worth ...

Sit some groups in the stands of maybe 5 to 10 who will join in the home end chant and teach and encourage those around them.

Record the chants and see if local radio will play them ... needs to be kept to under a minute ... OK it's difficult and will they play ....but will help with the overall education... same for the express could they publish the chants a couple of times ....

A longer version of the chants if recorded could be left on a number of web sites ... and if the local radio stations are on board on their sites as well...

Getting really hopeful .... if radio stations play the chants maybe a primary school competition for what school does the best version of the chants ... prize is the school get ... my guess 500 or 1000 free tickets to a match against PG or the Nix [ie a game that needs a crowd anyway]..

Given my obversation that the one word chant get picked up quick ... a chant that does work is the """ What a waste of Money""" this cannot be used for everything... maybe the donkey call could be started for simple mistakes ... a poor pass from an average player, keeper kicks the ball out ... its goes .... EOR...

Finish

This feedback is provided in the spirit of not having a go at anybody / group or activity and I hope others add their tho's...

I think yesterday was the best atmosphere as person not sitting in bay 16 could have had. I think we need the club to get involed sending a yellow army email to members in encourage them to come over stand and chant another idea is over the PA system during the game a live feed to the YA with the start of the chant. I used to think maybe people on the coast didn't want nor care about actively chanting from the stands but I seen a lot of people chanting from young to old. Another idea I was thinking of we will never get the active crowds of RBB or the cove BUT we could be the best to watch with tifo, flags all that goodness. The Club need to support the YA with money for these things, they might already do i dont know or some sort of membership but the identity of the clubs active supports can't be the same as RBB. We need to find our ONE thing that sets us apart from the rest of the league and personally I our tifo could be that.

A bit of caution to - Don't try to involve the stands to much - Over kill can be just as bad as no kill

Make it strong make it loud & make it easy - Catchy helps to

Keep some things YA exclusive like Danny Mcbreen scoring machine type stuff.

I noticed during the WSW Roar Semi that Roar were on top & if they could get that goal WSW were going to crack big time. The WSW brought out OUR Who do you sing for (whole stadium rocking) it lifted the boys & Ono did the rest - If we can replicate that it might really help our boys to.

Also RBB don't over do Who do we sing for - Just saying don't try to hard to get something happening - Stadium Chant in moderation -

Hope you understand what I mean

Also have we received any feedback from the players - Is there something that drives them that extra yard - Would be great to get some feedback from them - Can they even here us - Also would love an in depth report on them on the GF & what the feeling were like & what they thought of our support (could they here us - did it drive them on etc)

All over it lad. 2-3 times per game is plenty for big call & response.

I'm sure the players could hear us last night. If they couldn't, they're deaf. haha.

I think with the timing thing, it sorta seems silly but setting times so people know stuff is coming isn't that bad an idea. SFC had 'when sydney goes marching in' set for 30m and 60m, and then that evolved so that in the few minutes beforehand they'd do 'jump up in the cove'.

Welly do the shirts off bit at 80m if they're up, WSW do the Poznan at 80m, I've no idea if they do 'WDWSF' at a particular time.

We scored our championship winning goals in the 44th and 71st minutes and we (well, you lot, and me when I join you for derbies and finals and the like) stand in bay 16, so you could pick out the 16th, 44th and 71st minutes?

44th and 71st minutes for the crowd to all get going is a brilliant idea.

Call "Who scored the 1st goal?"
Response "Patrick"

Repeat for McBreen

Damn straight. It's from Racing Club Lens, if anywhere, and we stole it from them at the same time as the RBB did when they were still Sydney fans.

One thing I noticed last night, and correct me if I'm wrong, there was no break in the call and response. As you can see from the vid, they do 4 calls and response, then have a bit of a dance... then repeat. Last night, we just kept going "WDWSF"... "WSFY"... until it died a relatively quick death, probably due to boredom. Do you understand what I mean?

Finally, I went and saw Chelsea play at Stamford Bridge. They had two pull overs, one which was pulled from left to right and the other right to left as the teams took to the pitch. Anyway, I think we should pull the "Champions" banner from Bay 15 to bay 17 at the start of each game.

I posted this in another thread... For what it's worth...

I was in the active support last night (first time, but I've just read that the chanting and new megaphone was impressive).

I'd move the megaphone and the active crowd down to the front, to take charge of the area.
Get the first ten rows of people now sitting to stand up and join in, or move away.
Pull all the chanters together into one group and focused.
The capo leads the chants, nobody else starts anything.
Work out a list of chants and when they are most suitable.
Work towards getting them repeated for longer periods, so they don't fade too soon. Kashiwa had some simple chants that just went on and on.
Encourage everyone to encourage everyone else, in other words, get people standing with their arms folded to join in.
When you want to involve the other stands you have to warn them in advance (like all stand and point, or oooh and point), so they know they are going to be called on. Last night the first they knew of anything was when we sang "We are", so it took two or three before they realised what was happening.

Pedj is Maradonna
He handballs in front of WSW goals

A special one for the WSW games to remember us

Could be worth another whip-around. I don't know how much it would cost or any of the associated logistics, but don't let the cost put you off pursuing it PP. What do you think FP?... BG?
