ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Central Coast Mariners figurehead Peter Turnbull has left A-League club

At least one other staff member is gone too. In the absence of information, people (quite reasonably) speculate and draw their own conclusions.

May be wrong, but in the absence of any apparent notice (staff were apparently surprised!) it seems like it was less than planned or at best appallingly poorly communicated.

I suppose something released in the Telegraph is still an absence of information.

Got to love their first line. "Mariners were shocked...."

If they were shocked they were shocked. Another staff member who's gone today certainly seemed shocked.

Do you know if it's just the two that have gone or are there more? You'd have to be either credulous or incurious to not want to know more about what's the hell's going on up there.

I am not surprised but I am concerned. Peter Turnbull was the hand on the tiller; the man who steered the vision of the club. It was always obvious that PT would move on, in fact the surprise is that he stayed on after the take over by Charlesworth, but I guess that was part of the deal to ensure continuity and stability. It is very much a surprise that it is happening so quickly - Friday!
We all are grateful to Charlesworth for his rescue of the Club from its financial strife but his habit of shooting from the lip without engaging his brain will now go unchecked. PT was very hands on while MC is quite often overseas with his business interests; I am not comfortable with that.
PT's record is mixed - he got us into the financial mess, he hung in there, he got us out - but I can only regard the man with immense affection and admiration. He is going to be missed.
I am glad he will be a supporter; it means his heart is in the right place. I wish him well but I think we are now in for a even bumpier ride than usual.
I hope Mossy can cope.

To be fair to PT, he didn't really get us into financial trouble. His personal business got wiped out in the GFC and he simply wasn't able to put his hand in his pockets anymore.

Speaking to him briefly in the pub before the GF, I can assure you that he was as nervous and excited as any fan.

Yes, you are quite right; it is a credit to him that he kept all the balls in the air after the GFC and enabled the club to survive. I don't doubt that he has been drained emotionally by the experience as well as financially. There is a limit to what any person can do and I think he has done as much as humanly possible. The GF probably marked a good point to move away; job done.

Sad to see him go. He has been great for us. Ive only met him once but was impressed with the man and he clearly loved the club.
Still, if MC has put the dosh in he probably is not interested in other people's feedback....especially if they are telling him he has acted somewhat stupidly regarding his NSO brianfart.
