"You asked, we delivered. Due to the fantastic response we (and hummel Australia) received from fans in regards to our kit against Celtic, the jersey has now been made available and will be worn as our alternate kit during Hyundai A-League season 7. Pre-order here today:

Awesome. I did not like it when I first saw it but seeing it at the game changed my mind completely.

So, our home strip will be yellow and blue but in order to avoid a clash of colours for away games we have a second strip which will be yellow and blue? Not that I don't like the strip, mind.

It says alternate strip, ie after home and away kits.

Why is everyone saying "after home and away kits"?? I thought last season we had our normal kit, which was the stripey shirts and navy shorts worn both home and away, and our alternate kit, which was plain yellow shirts with white shorts for when the normal kit clashed.

Can someone explain the need for a third kit, and when each would get used? Talk me through it ;D

Yellow (and navy) home strip - clash with yellow of Wellington, change to say 'alternate strip, of yellow and navy!
:headbutt:
If the home strip is mostly navy, they can stick as far up as it won't fit!

Personally I think Wellington should have to de-conflict around us, stupid Jerks took our Yellow AND our vertical stripes AND we were in the competition well before them :p

I still don't get it. I would have thought this would simply replace the alternate kit (plain yellow) from last season, rather than being a third one??

I guess there is something obvious here that everyone else is seeing, and I'm not.

because with the various mixes of colours different teams have, sometimes our two kits would clash. You increase the options, you reduce the chances of a clash. Its not really customary for us to go to gold coast and ask them to play in their alternate. I'm all for the three kits. I'm planning to buy one of each.

I with you ... maybe one or two glasses of Hunter Red to many ... for me...

But I do know what I like and the shirt we played in against Celtic was IMHO (H stands for Humble) was the best shirt we have ever had ... so why not use it as the home shirt...

We played Gold Coast in our normal stripey yellow/navy last year and they played in their normal plain yellow...

May be I expect an away strip to be a different colour .. call me old fashioned.
:tophat:

IMHO the 'Celtic' shirt is rubbish.

I'm very glad I bought last year's away shirt to wear.

Fair enough :)

Although, I didn't think it was common to have a specific 'away' kit, i.e. one kit to play all home games, and another to play all away games. The A-League did it in the early seasons when we had to wear white away, which was a bit stupid IMO. Do they do it in the EPL? Would Chelsea, for example, rock up to Man U wearing a different colour other than their usual blue kit, because they are away?

I prefer a team has one main kit that they wear the majority of the time, and an alternate kit for any away game they are playing in that clashes... it wouldn't necessarily be a different colour just for the sake of having another colour, so in our case we could have our usual yellow/navy vertical stripes most of the time, and the mostly yellow with a blue horizontal stripe in case of clashes... I thought that was the old fashioned way!

It's great that the club is going to remain with a yellow away kit. The original white away kit looked good but the response to the new kit forced a rethink at both Hummel and the Mariners. The new low price of $99 is due to Rebel competition so there is no excuse to get your hands on the new kits this season. The team will be wearing their away jersey more often this season as well. I will definitely be getting both. So excited to have pre ordered it!

Central Coast Mariners Official Page Morning everyone - Thanks for all the feedback.

FYI this will be our "away" kit to be worn when our home strip (to be released in the next couple of months) clashes with our opponents. It may also be used over the course of our 2012 AFC Champions League campaign - which we're seriously excited about.

Also, negotiations are continuing with sponsors in regards to front of shirt placement.

So no third kit, just this one.

IMHO it needs to be a different colour and we will have the same problems as we did last year with GC away games depending on what their kit is this year.

Don't get me wrong I love the kit but it's a weak choice to listen to what must have only been a few hundred people loving it and decide that it should be an away kit. Chance lost.

I think what they are saying that this will be worn, ONLY when our normal strip clashes with the home teams strip. So there should be no clash with GC. We would wear our away/clash strip when playing Wellington in Wellington. Just because we are playing away does not mean that we have to wear an away strip as in the first few seasons.
