Well for my two cents .
Even when we won the toilet seat .i still
Had guys and sađly women around us ragging players .
Im sure if we had messi, naymer and fabragas they'd still be whinging.
It wasn't kevin kegan and ian rush

A Championship winning team can still have a 'passenger' or 2 - worthy of some 'ragging' amongst a squad of 26. ;)

Back to the draw for a bit... its not good..

We effectively only have one 7:00 kick off or two if you count the Thursday night ... add over summer we are a beach, lake and river community and its a huge ask at say 3:00 to start the process of getting ready for the game. add kids get hungry and kinda play up so the 5:00 has other disadvantageous for us.

Then we cope your crowds are small .. add I think the 5:00 Saturday is I think Fox's lowest rating game over the first 11 years when averaged... then we cope the metrics of crowds, ratings and the effect this has on membership.

My guess is 2K per game and I do wonder aloud if we or all teams that play on a Saturday afternoon game should receive some special payment say $ 25, 000 per match.

I think the draw is awful. But we're already well over 3K in members Middy and history has suggested we have about 6k rusted on. Sure we will have lost some... but even if we've lost a thousand (which is a lot) I think 2k is far too low, so think that estimate will be way off. If it isn't we're in a shit load of trouble.

I agree with most everything else you've said, but I'd be very surprised if we average less than 5 - 6k by seasons end. Which would be our worse to date. And we want to be doing better season to season obviously.

The key part will be good football, team unity, (which should alleviate the negative press) and no stupid PR brain snaps that alienate the coast. I think the coast still loves the Mariners. But there's plenty who will need some reminding and evidence that we're not a basket case on the field again before they get excited about coming once more - I'm only going off anecdotal evidence here but that's the gist of what I've been hearing.

I really like the idea of the FFA supporting those teams supporting who are given the weaker time slots btw. Makes a lot of sense. There is no doubt our draws have often hurt us - both competitively and in attendance.

Also I think there's merit fro some measure of support to Nix and Perth for their excess travel requirements. Or is that already given in some form possibly and I just don't know about it? I know that will piss some off, but we could always cover it by taxing the scum for making people have to go up to their shit hole of a buffoon filled stadium.

While agreeing that the early games are a killer - we do have the opportunity to have some decent crowds. When the draw came out I thought it was shocking though I was happy to get City at NYE, less so that we had another City game. With Timmy signing that second game can also be strong.

If we can start well away the first home game in round 3 will be a good crowd. The WSW as our third home game in round 9, NYE and Timmy for the 5th home game in round 13, SFC for the 6th home game in round 14, Australia Day long weekend might be a chance in round 17, Timmy again in the 9th home game in round 22 and a derby for our last home game in round 26.

The poorest game should be on the Thursday night in round 8. We will struggle to get 5000-6000 for that game. I would expect to see 5 or 6 greater than 10000 and 5 or 6 with less than 10000.

7.00pm is for winners and big drawing teams.

Until we are back in the top 6 consistently kiss 7.00pm goodbye.

Fox want the big games at that time.

We need to spend on the squad to get those time slots back

Top 6 won't make a difference. 7pm is for the teams whose fans have the most set top boxes.

I don't like it. But that's the market reality driving it. Maybe after the next media deal is signed FFA can be lobbied to provide a fairer draw. But I doubt it, so I think Middy's idea is a decent alternative. I can see them simply not giving a f**k about our complaints. What can we do? Threaten to leave o_O:headbutt:

That won't do it. The year after we won we had 13 home games, 9 at 5:30, 3 at 7:45 and the NYE game at 6:15. We are from a small area and do not command the TV audiences that Fox are after.

We will never get a regular prime time slot. The club up the road were even told that they could win the league and it wouldnt change a thing. Big clubs draw bigger ratings

Wellington Phoenix coach Ernie Merrick has implored the A-League to acknowledge Fifa windows or postpone several of the club’s “compromised” fixtures ahead of the 2016-17 season.

Wellington is set to lose five starting XI players for its Round One clash with Melbourne City on October 8. with the All Whites playing Mexico and the United States on October 8 and 11 in Nashville and Washington DC respectively.

The club applied to have the Round One match postponed which was rejected by Football Federation Australia.

Merrick is also fuming about the condition his international players will be in for their Round Two clash away to Perth Glory given the travel from the United States.

Wellington is likely to face similar issues throughout the season with New Zealand along with Roy Krishna’s Fiji which is scheduled for its 2018 World Cup qualifiers in November and March.

Merrick said it could leave Wellington without up to nine players for its clashes with Central Coast (Nov 12), Western Sydney (Feb 4) and Newcastle Jets (March 26).

The Nix boss said Wellington were fully supportive of the All Whites’ World Cup campaign and called on the A-League to make changes.

“Where it does leave us, is in a very compromised position,” Merrick said

“That makes life very difficult for us but it also compromises the competition because there’s other teams will be saying ‘they played them when they were half a team and now we’ve got to play them when they’re a full team’.

“That’s going to happen four or five times this year because after the boys return from the USA they’ve got to fly to Perth and it’s the long way around.

“The next round of matches during the Fifa window it’ll be the Oceania qualifiers. I’m tipping that some European-based All Whites won’t be back for that game, so we could have eight maybe nine players out during the next Fifa window.

“That’s a big problem. I think if it’s going to be fixed, it has to be fixed now and it’d be postponed but we’re having no success with the FFA on that matter.”

Wellington could lose up to nine players to international duty

FThe FFA’s relationship with Fox Sports is believed to have been a factor in rejecting Wellington’s request.

Merrick acknowledged recognising Fifa windows might not be suitable for the A-League but said individual cases to postpone games could be a solution given the integrity of the contest is at risk.

The FFA previously rescheduled Wellington games during New Zealand’s successful 2010 World Cup qualifying campaign.

“In the days prior to the Fifa forcing clubs to acknowledge and respect Fifa international windows if you had two players out you had to play the game and if you had three players out the game was automatically postponed,” Merrick said.

“Maybe to bring back that type of rule might be a good idea.

“Whatever (the case), we’ve built a really good team and because we’re doing so well, there’s more players going to play for New Zealand and that’s going to be a penalty for producing such good quality All Whites players.”

Merrick wants two more players for the new season but said All Whites duty might affect which areas he bolsters, pinpointing a defender and a midfielder.

Fiji's Roy Krishna is likely to also miss Wellington games

I think everyone on here would have to agree that the scheduling of fixtures for this season's draw is .. well ..... SHIT !
- to say the least.

I can sympathise with Ernie, imagine (ok - wet dream it;)) that we still had Jedinak, Sainsbury, Rogic & Ryan playing for us and had to lose them everytime the Socceroos played/ went into camp ???

We'd be filthy !
- But then again .... (Devils Advocate :innocent: )

We (CCM)
would/will benefit from Wellington's & Merrick's pain come November 12th ....

Can't for the life of me understand why they got rid of the international duty replacement player rule. It was tough enough for the Phoenix.
