Well i was one of the 600 (oh sorry 1600) there and I'm glad i made the effort because that game had a bit of everything going on!!!
Tesco was looking brilliant before the hamstring twinge.
Eames probably MOM. Herrington and Sash did well. Doka and Alou were causing them lots of problems. Everyone worked their bollocks off and deserved credit.
The ref and linesman were Joh level corrupt.
Max and his little band of men in Bay 16 were awesome and the stand got into it in the 2nd half.
Pav made some outstanding saves which will give him some confidence.

Never a red. I’m still blowing up.

They sent 25-30 office/support staff over with them and they decided to sit right in front of the ground announcers box. They celebrated like they’d won the World Cup when DPC saw red - not gonna lie it was pretty shameful and goes to show exactly how they planned to play it out.

Kuol copping undeserved hate (again). Toiled hard up front on his own. Glad he netted.

Pav was good when he came on. I did kinda tell you he was decent. Shame about the near post goal though.

Absolute masters of the dark arts, JDT. TBH, they’ve won the league 10 years in a row, scored something like 68088 goals in 18 games and conceded 8 so far this season. Hate it. Would’ve loved it if it was us. Yuck.

I hate football. f**kin shit game.

See you in Kawasaki next week.

On the balance of play they were the better side before the sendoff without really being a threat. We played valiantly but the call against DPC hurt us (never a red).

Kalatak, DPC and Doka won't play the Next ACLE game and Trent and Edmo unlikely so a forced squad rotation.

As an aside - we probably catered for a budgeted for 10,000 spectators (given the squad decimation) across the 4 games at home. We scraped to 10028.

Frustrating game. Injuries to Edmo,Sains and Doka and sending off of DPC made it a miserable night. However plenty of fight shown by our boys was commendable.
Pavlesic looked good when he came on as did Herrington.Glad to see Kuol pull one back for us -plenty of credit to Kaltak for the pass back across goal.
Johor were skilful but ready to dive and very physical.it was good to see MDP giving them some back .

That department should have never been changed from last season
100%. It was clearly one thing that made a huge difference for us last season.

Debate about the red card aside - DPC should never have made that tackle. He had defenders back, shouldn't have come out to start with - and given that he did, should have been aware enough to know he had 2 defenders (plus a 3rd marking their player), so should have just tried to hold him up rather than make the tackle.

Silly mistakes from him (and whatever we think about the foul or not, the tackle was terrible anyway).

These injuries are going to hurt us. 2-1 down is frustrating, but not a bad result given no 2nd half subs, key injuries and a sent-off GK.

Thank god we had VAR for our goal though! Given the delay on that flag, I reckon the AR was asking the ref if there was a touch in the middle and I'd say the ref thought there was, so the AR's flag goes up. One of those ones where if there was, then Kaltak is offside. As an AR, occasionally you have to try work out with the ref if there was a touch or not. Great cutback and a good goal all round.

It would be interesting to see an analysis across all the injuries this year to determine which were potentially preventable and which weren't.

Sometimes injuries just happen.

Tappy doing an ACL, edmo dislocating shoulder/elbow last night, doka concussion last night, edmo eye socket injury and Alfie knee as contact injury have little to do with S&C.

Duarte breaking his leg was described by Jacko as non contact and doing a shooting drill. Report was his foot went down wrong and snap. Hardly a S&C failure.

Di piz was injured on NT duty so not really an in house issue.

Take out sains pec injury - which I have no idea on the circumstances but free weights carry a certain amount of inherent risk - I don't recall many "training" injuries.

Could some of the muscle injuries - eg sains last night or Mauragis - be prevented? Maybe.

I would be really keen to see the match GPS data.

Given our want this year to have the wide guys bomb up the sideline and our back 3 a lot wider apart, the need for high intensity sprints and distance covered is automatically increased. To some extent the demands of the game have played a part.

Add in the fact that we are not good with the football (we give away so much ball under little or no pressure), we are creating more transitions and recovery situations where we have to scramble therefore we fatigue quicker, are gassed at the back end of games and increase the chance of injury.

I don't know Brice - couldn't pick him out of a line up. I don't know the new guy - couldn't pick him out of a line up either (although it would have to be a virtual line up by all reports).

One thing I do know is that a quality S&C coach can see when a player is starting to become an injury risk and advise the coach accordingly- the way they start to run, the way they turn, the way technique changes, body language when the ball goes out etc.

And you can't see that if you aren't there in person 🤷🏻‍♂️.

Good post. I know Brice and I said that when we were losing players from the squad at the end of last season that losing he would be one of our biggest losses. Very experienced at what he does and can pick when a player is at risk from load or injury. Such a shame he's left

Tough to assess a player you can't see.
