On the replacements:
Nizz has been coming off early in many games since he had Covid. I suspect that superb engine of his has been affected. I am suffering similarly 2 months after Covid.
Silvera took a bad knock in the back and I think he may have been an injury replacement.
Discipline in the squad needs to be addressed immediately. It is one thing to be passionate and playing hard, it is another to be damn stupid. Benni's red, like Kaltak's may be considered soft, but FFS when a ref has sent an opposition player off he will even the numbers up with any excuse. Just plain dumb.
I am tired of our captain running out of the goals to berate refs and getting carded. It sets a bad example to the rest of the team and he obviously did nor learn from his experience in his younger days.
Have a look at replay of the the red in last night's "Big Blue". It was soft like Benni's, but the refs have obviously been told to crack down hard on any violence no matter how trivial and they have fallen in love with their new fluoro red cards.
Time to smarten up.

I think many are missing the obvious.
We are a team made up of Academy upcoming, but inexperienced youth, a good selection of unwanted or overlooked other young players, and visa players from lower tier overseas teams who may be good value for the A-League.
With good coaching, superior fitness, extreme enthusiasm and full on, all out, attacking football we took many teams by surprise who had, as usual under estimated us.
As the season progresses other teams are beginning to match us for fitness as well opposition coaches are working out counters to our packing the front third with high playing full backs. As well, they have superior individual quality visas and locals whose price is way beyond our budget. As these opposition players start to gel together opposition teams are playing better football.
Last night we came up against a team with many superior individuals who are now working well together. Added to that our coaches realised that our tactics were well understood and made a change in structure that failed. The excess in enthusiasm has led to frustration when things do not work out hence silly lashings out and other dumb decisions.
The team has been playing well above the ability of the individual components which with inexperienced players can not be maintained in a consistent manner.
We have a middle order team that will cause upsets and if everything goes our way (really Buckley's chance), the team could go all the way.
Games like last night will happen as often as games like the 1st clash this season against wanderers.

No need to go hunting individuals to blame. It is what it is. Accept that we have a competitive team that give their all and play exciting (mostly) football.

anybody willing to watch the replay will see that Steele literally wasnt even in the game 1st half, and only came into the game when Nizzy went off and Steele came back to 6

we basically played the entire 1st half with 10 men

we focused too much on changing our setup to try and disrupt them and defend

we need to play to our strengths, rather than to combat theirs

Yeah agree on Danny. If Marcelo goes down screaming clutching his back after the shove Danny probably sees red too.

I know it’s hard being ripped off regularly. And It’s clearly impacted on Monty and the players. But they have to do better.

WSW played final’s football last night with a high quality eleven. It was intense and it was relentless. You can see their progression from the last two times we played them.

What worries me, however, is the discipline. That is different this season. Is it dressing room issues like FFC posted, is it players playing beyond their level, is it Monty trying to motivate the team by pitting the A-League and referees against us, or a combination? Are there other reasons? This I don’t know.

I suspect that Monty is trying get every bit of competitiveness out of an inferior team and this is the result.

WSW played final’s football last night with a high quality eleven. It was intense and it was relentless. You can see their progression from the last two times we played them.

What worries me, however, is the discipline. That is different this season. Sad but true. Only thing I’ll say is underdog teams or on an underdog occasion - you have to out enthuse your opponents. We failed at this. And I also wondered at the fitness. Except it looked like wanderers used most of their energy first 35 and sat back far more thereafter.

Maybe pre game music/vibe needs to be a little more on the kill or be killed side and less dance party hijinx.

We learnt some lessons from yesterday's game.Firstly Cummings needs a partner up front otherwise he is marked out of the game.Secondly Harry Steele is not a 10 but is a presentable 6.As an aside I know that some posters don't believe this position is used in contemporary football but from watching other games and teams this is bullshit-what do you call Aiden O'Neill or Kante or our own Ballard/Steele combination?

Third Triantis and Farrell are our best CB combination and we are lucky to have Hall and Windust as replacements.Also Theoharous is now needed as a starting player.
