CCM v Drivebys (AKA Staj derby)

I’ve been happy with DPC so far. He is inexperienced and has had a few shaky moments that he was lucky to get away with unlike Pavlesic, but he has also saved us on many occasions. I’m fine for us to stick with him and allow those shaky moments from him to happen as long as he’s developing, and I can see that happening.

Remember Matty Ryan's first few games

How about that lung-busting run after 94 minutes from Doka? What a huge engine. While others were gassed, he looked as fresh as pre-match!
That was tremendous by Doka-what an engine. Also Steele's effort to get back to clear off the line was a lung buster.Maybe the squad's fitness level is better than we armchair critics think

The drivebys did not really press us last night , so am not getting carried away with that result , it could have gone the other way quite easily , I'll enjoy the 3 points as always , ( also hope we make the 6 ) but will wait to see how we deal with a pressing team - player/formation/ coaching/game management wise .
Agreed mate. SFC don't match up well with us coz Talay's press at all costs style creates pressure and we crumbled to it last week. WSW were passive and allowed us to play which was a detriment to them. We aren't gonna have the luxury of 17 shots, 8 on target every week. All we can hope for now is this win has given a boost to the lads confidence and we can create momentum and roll with it into the 2nd half of the season coz we have some catching up to do.

DPC’s trajectory over the last couple of years has been incredible. As I’ve said previously is the best shot-stopper at the club and continues to improve. Distribution has improved since the first few rounds (think that may have just been more nerves/adjusting to the step up as he was always a great distributor in NPL), commands his area well, still growing into his body as well but if he continues to improve on the same trajectory, he’ll be off to Europe making us some big money in a year or 2, just in time for Maty to come home.

WELL, that was alright-ish, I mean 3 points is 3 points , right ?
kudos to Alou for using his feet for something other than filling reeboks,
one again the kids done good , imagine what Eames and de lima will be like when they get their tanks up to full capacity...and as for Daddy Doks and his 94th minute turbo boost, well done you, but your clearly not doing enough midnight feeds or nappy swaps
Eddos header was brilliant , hope Alfie isnt banged around too much , we aint exactly got a experienced cover for him....

OH YEAH, PARAMOUNT, WTAF ?...20 mins into the game and you want to change it over to the ninjas , you dribbling idiots , if i wanted to watch the ninjas run around I would of put the f**king ninjas on in the first f**king instance
rant over ....COYY
yeah i almost got a yellow from mrs tb. for ranting over that ,f'kning paramount.

After watching the replay I think that while not getting over excited we should be pleased with the game.
Some would say that WSW could/should have scored three more goals Yes, but they did not due to last ditch efforts by Sains, Harry and Brian. Our players wanted it more and were prepared to fight harder for the win. Even Feijao's desperate effort to block an unmarked Mata's shot which gave away a free kick All the players, mistakes and all, fought for a well deserved win.

if you wanted to you could carefully watch any one of our players and pick up on their errors, misdirected passes, giveaways, missed tackles, ball watching, etc, there were plenty of them and none were without sin. But why would you. Enough sermonising.

To a Wombat style analysis.
DPC: 5 points. Was not called upon to do to much and his distribution was much better. Maybe because WSW did not pressure as much, maybe because the defence in front of him was better, maybe he is getting more confident. A point deducted for each of two glaring mistakes. Nearly getting caught with the ball at his feet and that spilled ball that could have been disastrous No matter, he is young, has potential and I am happy to put up with the mistakes if he can use the time at the top level to fulfil his potential.

Kaltak: 7 points. Looked like the Brian we know fro last year. Bonus point for the save after DPC's spill. No more messing about with his back to the attackers trying to shield the ball and looking lost.

Sains: 6 Points. Bonus point for the off the line clearance, point off after correctly pointing Storm to his man and then losing his own. Getting better every week.

Paul: 7 points. One of his better games. Played like a much older central defender. Fouled players when he had to, unfortunately got pinged on the third, but good to see him growing Comfortable with the ball at his feet

Storm: 7 points. The odd misguided kick but less than usual got up the park like he was meant to and played a solid fullback's game. That shot would have gone in the net 10 years ago.

Theo: 8 points. (2 points mom) One of the best performances I have seen from him. Terrorised the opposition defence and put in some superb passes out of defence to turn the defence into attack. I just wish he would pass more in the final third rather than going to far himself with the ball.

Doka: 9 points. (Mom 3 points) Another Mom performance. Week in week out wonderful ball control and always working.

Harry: 7 points. (mom 1 point) A top game. He does not have the skills of Maxy Ballard nor the awareness shown by Nizzy but he bleeds yellow and blue. The open midfield allowed him to run with the ball. Good to see.

Eames: 7 points. Is this kid really only 16yo. Played with heaps of confidence, showed good ball skills and awareness If he keeps developing he is going to be great.

De Lima: 6 points. Another youngster thrown in at the deep in and looking more mature than his years. Fearless and has the skills. Valuable exposure at the top.

Kuol: 7 points. Bonus point for the determination that led to the goal, but continues to miss decent balls provided by his team mates. Works his butt off but does not play like a striker. He is found on his heels to often, does not anticipate nor run to near post. He terrorises the opposition defence and is good on defensive corners. His amazing athletic bailies have got him to where he is now and are possibly enough in this league.

Edmo: came on as a sub with a point to prove and made it. Great goal, good determination and someone who plays like a striker.

Feijao: Came on and carried on the good attacking work started by Theo. He is fast and good with the ball but tries too often to take on the last defender and loses out. He has shown the ability to play great give and goes and has some attacking flair. He is better than many here would have you believe and is great as an impact player for the last twenty minutes with his enthusiasm and willingness to put his body on the line. Is it enough of a visa player? With our budget I think so.
