ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

And what incentive would there be for Niz to sign an agreement with us that he isn’t intending to fulfil, while making him less attractive to suitors who would then have to not only pay Niz but a fee to us, all so he gets no material benefit but we get a fee? Is he just a really nice guy?
I feel like if you're going to produce youth there needs to be 2 year standard contract but with 3 year club option to extend. Give em 2 years and if they remain injury free and develop well either sign them on a full time contract as opposed to a scholarship or extend their contracts. Cant keep getting bullied by agents.

You need to look ahead and play the odds. The player gets security and/or a higher wage, the club gambles they'll get the cost and some profit back. You are right there needs to be a material benefit for the player.

We got incredible players for very little...
yeah we developed them from the academy, it's an investment and a good investment requires a return. I guess you could argue the treble is the return, but from a financial stand point does it still balance the cheque book?

Can you imagine what we would have to have paid to recruit players if that talent, strong enough to win a treble? Many clubs have spent far far more on a midflield and not hit anywhere near the returns we did. When you consider the success that was in a large part to players like Niz and Max has increased membership, corporate sponsorship, tickets, food and bev and prize money, not to mention the ability to recruit other players such as the new quality we have this year, the investment has returned far far more than transfer fee.

While that is true... a mega payoff for losing them is what the top teams in Europe get.

Why shouldn't we aspire to the same?
