Ryan set for LaLiga exit
Socceroos No.1 Maty Ryan is set to leave Real Sociedad and LaLiga and head to Denmark and join FC Copenhagen, according to reports.
Spanish outlet
El Diario Vasco claims the Aussie will join Copenhagen for €500,000 ($730,000) as he looks to get some first-team football in the build up to the Qatar World Cup at the end of the year.
Ryan joined Sociedad 12 months ago following the end of his loan at Arsenal and the expiry of his contract with Brighton but only made three appearances for the Spanish side having been unable to displace first-choice ‘keeper Alex Remiro.
The 30-year-old will join Copenhagen after their usual No.1, former Liverpool goalkeeper Kamil Grabara, suffered a nasty facial fracture.
23-year-old Grabara, who left Liverpool after a series of loan spells in 2021, is a Poland international and set a Superliga clean sheet record last year, but is expected to be out of action for a while as he recovers from injury.
That will give Ryan plenty of opportunity to get some minutes under his belt ahead of the 2022 World Cup, starting with a tough Champions League qualifier against Trabzonspor.
