ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

I really don't think it is that simple. I think Mike is looking at people to help with developing alternative income streams. Not funding football losses.

Revisiting this thread and taking it back to the original post a little bit. Apologies for bringing stats into this.

Attack.
I think in general I get the sense that no one is particularly that taken with the 3421 attacking formation, and think that in general we play a bit more freer in attack when we have played a 442 (or 4411). I was not against it at first but we really do not seem to have gone anywhere with it, and this far into the season the only assumption I have of our path to goal is that the wide wing backs are meant to overlap the wide front players, whip in a cross to the striker who heads it in. Which has never consistently happened. Kuol has also had no competition for his position, and his 3 goals for the season is simply not good enough. For his time uninjured, Edmo has a higher xG per 90 as well as goals per 90. Edmo and Kuol manage a similar number of shots per 90 minutes, but Edmo has a better on target ratio. I think Edmo is the preferred striker of the two, and has been unlucky with injuries. I do not really think the way games have gone we have played in a way that has suited them both as attackers, and neither are clinical enough (or confident enough?) to score consistently with about 2 shots a game they average. Striker is our #1 key signing over the off season.
According to Fotmob, Doka has made 47 chances this season, averaging 2.6 per90 and has actually managed only 6 assists out of those. Our next closet is Alfie who has 16 chances created and 1.3 per 90, and no actual assist. So again, chances are all on Doka’s shoulders and no one else has been able to consistently help us into those dangerous areas. Hopefully Di Pizio will offer a little bit here, but he is still finding his feet again after the injury.
What can we do about our attack? I think we need to stick to the 4 at the back in attack, and still invite the wingbacks to overlap, and perhaps invite one of our 6s to sit in the back temporarily if needed. I also think we need a 3rd player in the centre of midfield. We are simply run over in there, and don't have enough experience. I think Steele is fine for the level, but is an unflashy player. Alfie is too similar to him so when we don’t have a 3rd in there they can’t play off each other. Eames is obviously great, but having a 16 year old starting is also a bit tough.

Defense.
We have conceded 31 goals thus far this season, and have lost 5 games. In those 5 games we have conceded 19 of those 31 goals, about 61%, and lost by at least 3 goals in all of those games. So when we lose, we lose bad. Obviously the only positive to take from our defense is that for the most part we are able to keep things under wraps or at least keep it consistent with how many we can score. I have no stats to back this up, but I feel like we aren't punished when we go to the 4 at the back. Of course we have coughed up a good few gifts in there as well. If we can figure out why when we suck we suck, I think the defense is less of a concern than the attack.

For the rest of the season we have
WU - Drew with (above us on the table)
Victory - drew with (above us on the table, and playing them in Vic, low chance)
Auckland - Lost to at home (playing away, low chance)
Glory - drawn with twice (and are improving)
City - Drew with (and playing them in Melbourne, which we have a poor record)
Jets - drawn with and won against (but they have improved since those games)
Macarthur - Drew with (though I think they will struggle for the rest of the season)
Roar - Beat

Realistically we could win 3 of those games and anything could happen in a derby. Maybe 2 more draws. So lets say a realistic and positive outlook on those games is 14 points. Puts us on 35. That was outside of the 6 last season.

What is the current price tag of the club? I thought it was 20 mil
$7m (or even cheaper) would have got you the Mariners prior to RP making us the Greatest club in A League History.

RC walked away from a deal a few weeks ago but i'm not sure what the money offered was. Like Big Al said...the rumour is RC agreed a price and then changed his mind.

It was a "real" Football person that wanted to purchase us.

RP didn’t make us the greatest club. He was simply in the right place at the right time.

Rumours about MC walking away from a deal are wide of the mark.

I'm told the money was ready to be deposited into MC's account. My source is quite connected but you and Pink Lady really seam to be ITK defo more than me.

RP invested in our squad. This year there was NO investment in our squad. The result is plain to see.

The alleged buyer at the time never passed the fit & proper persons test that FA requires (apparently never even took it), so it didn’t even get to the stage of depositing money.

RP inherited a squad that was cultivated by Mont and Serge, and reaped the benefits. He then punted people like Brice, Ken, and Christo, and we’re now seeing the results.
