ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

she had every reason to fire up

the new membership system is really going to screw the clubs up

renew membership on your birthday instead of every febuary i think...

that's right

therefore clubs will struggle on a daily basis to know who their members are, struggle to do membership drives and struggle to add any value on to membership

the old lady was firing up because they had affiliation fees to send to the national bridge association every march yet the new system will make administering this very hard and also money won't be in the bank for this purpose

Whats the rationale behind changing the system? I would have thought the current one is perfect. For reasons said above..they can do strategic co-ordinated Membership drives and really do something to add value, and then for all their sub-clubs, such as us and the Bridge club any of those fees which need to be to other 'parent' associations can be co-ordinated at the right time etc.

It is beneficial to the Club to have it done this way, both in cost and organisation. So if it helps us in the long run it will help the internal Clubs. From what I have been told it only affects a few of the internals 5 out of 19, the rest have been taking their own money for years(example darts).
It is a small price to pay to have the benefits of conection to the CCLC.
We wouldn't have asked if it wasn't needed, so would disagree about the right to fire up too much over it.
As it will not be happening untill your birthday in 2010 all have a good year to prepare.
So again thanks.

The logistics of renewing all of the 45,000 (?) members in one month and then sitting around for 11 would seem to justify the new system IMHO.

Without the sake of getting into an argument over this the cost of an extra couple of staff over the February renewal period is minute compared to club turnover and overall staff costs. And the organisation of it seems very simple if done over one month.

IMHO, the minimal cost savings will be diminshed in the cost of policing a system where people become members at different times, therefore just having the correct colour card is not enough to know whether members are renewed or not.

I can now imagine the lines after games of people trying to get into the club and the extra time door staff now have to take in checking each date of birth and comparing that to the colour card.

Another "car-parking" system in the making.

That it all I will say on the matter.

I too have said my piece, other than your staffing and membership period is wrong, and I do know it is needed, and that should be enough. We still all have a year to prepare.

How hard is it to print a big, bold renewal date on the card ???? Surely thats the problem solved.

Staff have to look at more than just colour of the card anyway or you could use any card thats the same colour.

From a club view I understand it, from a personal view and Marinators club view I don't like it!

Whats the Marinators' Club view?

Would it help to have our own card? Perhaps the CCLC could help out with that?

good suggestion and way to go forward looking at ways to overcome the barriers

the chairman said he will help clubs who are disadvantaged by the new system and I am sure the marinators club are discussing options

the cclc needs to look after its clubs because it was evident at the agm that club members formed the majority of attendance and therefore the voting block

With regards to the influx of funds we receive at membership renewal.  The Marinators Club membership renewal is due same time as leagues club membership.

This influx of cash allows us to bulk purchase merchandise which pretty much stocks us for the majority of the season.  Bulk purchase enables us to receive higher discounts which we pass onto members.

Fair point Alicia but that issue solves itself after 1 renewal cycle and isnt going to be a permanent problem.

Can see both sides here and thankfully, there are reasonable people on both sides so sure it will be sorted.
