To be honest Sains has been a very underwhelming captain. I’ve given him the Knick name Captain Yellow. He seems to want to get one every game. His stupid yellow yesterday is case in point. Knowing you are one card off a suspension why do that tackle on half way. I’d give it to someone else for the remainder of the season. Hasn’t seemed to inspire the young players at all.

Steele should not be in the starting 11 tbh.
In an ideal world, i agree with you but unfortunately we all support the Mariners and as such we have have to take the shit with the miracle. Which means having a player that would be lucky to make the bench at any other club and selling anyone even remotely good for low $$

Sainsbury has been an underwhelming signing in general. I wonder how much respect the rest of the team has for him. Nothing about him inspires me at all.

I feel a bit the same. Obviously experienced and can play but some things he's done as the captain have me scratching my head. Threw the subs under the bus in an earlier game we lost, happy to collect yellow cards and generally ( I could be reading too much into it ) doesn't seem to have too much camaraderie with the players around him. Wondering if this is also affecting BK?

Is it possible that his professionalism and standing in the game is way above the seemingly casual attitude of certain players around him?
He's been there and done that. The rest of the squad haven't.
I think he is a perfect choice and it's up to the others to match him not the other way around.
As captain, he didn't gift Wanderers 2 goals, he also didn't miss the chances.

I'm an each way bet on this one.

I'm fully for him based on his experience and standing in the game to set the standards and expect players to be busting a gut to meet them.

But as captain he has to lead them there.and he has to lead the senior players to set the example and uphold the standards.

This season there is no way he has met any standard that his standing in the game should be expected to meet.

You lose all credibility as captain if you hold others to a standard that you aren't meeting yourself.

Sains has always been that lay back person and often in his junior career coaches through he did not care.

Just maybe his lay back attitude in general is not what you want in a captain
