ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Bye bye Benny

Legendary Mariners' media man Ben Coonan has officially resigned from the club. After almost five years at the Mariners he is off to Europe to further his media career.

Goodbye Benny - you are a legend and will be sorely missed.

Who is going to write for Wilko now? Or will Wilko have to get his crayons out of the warehouse and do it himself!  ;D

Good luck overseas Mr. Coonan..... :tophat: (where's the 'stop over'? Bangkok..)

Yeah all the best to Mr Coonan and he will be, as Mick said, sorely missed.

Always up for a chat no matter what far flung airport or pokey suburban ground you happened to be watching the mariners go round at.

wilko is actually a very intelligent and articulate guy - one of the smarter ones in the club

i am sure if he had the time and inclination to write the article he would do a very good job

You are right, Marinermick, Wilko is quite a decent guy off field.

Was surprised when I first talked to him a couple of years back, as he was quite outgoing and friendly towards me and the missus. Some of the players look like rabbits in a spotlight when approached, but Wilko is pretty good for all that off field stuff and can carry a conversation.

Maybe he should write his own column? His personality is more outgoing off field than the on field role that he plays. People might be pleasantly surprised?

I didn't mean to offend Wilko, if he gets wind of this, as it was just a joke, which is something I have heard he is often guilty of himself.

I am very aware that most 'celebrity' columns are ghost written. Wilko wasn't the first or won't be the last, to have a column set up in his name but written by a professional writer.

Mariners will DEFINATELY struggle to find someone who can fill BC's shoes! Absolute legend of a man and just an all round nice guy. I have no doubt he will end up earning some serious coin in his chosen field and wish him all the best.

It's been an absolute pleasure to 'deal' with him over the last few years and someone you could ALWAYS rely on.

Good luck BC.

Your have been a credit to yourself, the Mariners and the A-League for the past 5 years and i personally wish you the best in futhering your career in europe.

I don't know the man personally, but I know him by reputation, and have never heard a bad word said about him.

Best of luck BC.

Ben has always been a great help to me whenever I asked for something on behalf of the Marinators Club.  He's a great guy, really nice and always polite and helpful..  He will be sorely missed.

Good luck Ben with your future endeavors.  Any organisation will be lucky to have you.

Bye Ben

I've followed your career since you were a nipper and have always been impressed by the quality of your work.

As editor of the Newcastle Breakers programme, I'd like to think that I gave you your start all those years ago with your Breakers player interviews (or was it a Kossie interview? - the memory has faded!)

All the best overseas!

Good luck Ben.

He was always very helpful and his articles were always well researched and articulate. I'm sure he will be very successful.

Just saw this. Indeed a legend, and talented.  I will certainly miss him.

Like Mr Celery I have watched him progress from a 15 yo keen amateur at Breakers, to some years putting up with Brossy & I as editors of BOTN (hair braids at Pittwater Park, lol), then years of uni, a great start at Mariners, and now an FFA/AFC hardened professional.

Very best of luck Ben, and keep in touch.

Press releases can be a bit long-winded and overly well researched, but probably the best media guy of all the A-League clubs. Will be hard for you to replace.

Good luck lad.

Yep, a hell of a nice guy and a loss for our club.

Is this the end of "idyllic bayside setting" in every article? Only joking, the articles we're always well written and extremely well researched.
