Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Couple of points Ange

"We've been chipping away at it. I think after round four, we were three losses and one win. We're in second spot now, there's only one spot to go," Postecoglou said.

1) You were 4 points behind after 4 rounds. Now you are 5 points behind after another 14 rounds.
2) Last 5 matches - WSW 12 points, CCM 11 points, Victory 10 points.

Keep chipping son and while you're at it start worrying about the WSW.

That week MV home (23/2), Suwon at home (27/2), then WSW home (2/3) is a huge, huge week and will probably tell if we can win the double!

Haha, MV and WSW are the teams we really need to keep on top of (beat them both again and we'll have it) but....
"We beat Sydney and so think we deserve top spot"
Ange, you beat SYDNEY. Stop patting yourself on the back.

. only we haven't beaten melbourne this campaign

. even though we have had someone sent off in both games ... it frustrates me that we haven't beaten 'anges team'

Don't worry BK, Arnie's got Ange's measure this time. He's arrange for a pie stall to be set up right behind the MV bench.

I thought when I first saw the mariners playing with 2 DM's in pre season that this formation might just be a direct answer to ange teams. So far it's got us 2 away draws...

We've only lost twice, full stop. Once we were frankly robbed blind. The other we were unlucky after not finishing our chances.

Everyone else, *everyone* has lost at least 5 matches. We don't always win, but but we do a passable impression of unbeatable.

First time was (in the exact words of Andy Harper) "Highway robbery". The second time, not finishing perfect chances to score didn't help, but neither did the refs allowing Sydney to hack at the Mariners players all night. I get the feeling the FFA had given them the all-clear, knowing that beating the ladder leaders would be just the good publicity boost SFC needed amidst all the shit going on.

As somebody else pointed out, Melbourne have twice been in a position to beat the Mariners with a man down (once a player, once Arnie) but couldn't finish the job. Melbourne are simply the best of the rest at the moment. Mariners are like the Roar from 2 seasons back, but on a less pronounced scale, plus we aren't being talked about half as much which suits me just fine...

I like what you're all saying. So this might be just nitpicking.

But we've drawn 5 times. If it comes to a penalty shoot out in a grand final (history says it's likely), we're vulnerable.

We really need at least a few of our players to improve their composure in front of goal so we've got some options. We can't keep relying almost solely on McBreen or the occasional goal from others when opportunity abounds. It was great to see Duke pick up the mantle last game. Hopefully, we'll see more of that from him.

Surely, two or three of the following guys could step up to be a solid chance of scoring when they've got a good opportunity: e.g. Bernie, McGlinchey, Bozanic, Montgomery, Hutcho, Rose and Pedj. We're missing far too many chances and it's when the pressure is on that that will hurt us. Such as, the final run in to win the Premiership and the Grand Final.

Hard to please? Probably. But I just don't want to see us lose the double because of a small flaw in our game. What is it when there's an open goal and the ball gets fired skywards, or we get a penalty and don't score? I'm sure they practice this stuff in training and get it right. Is it just composure? If so, there's a chance to believe in ourselves and improve this part of our game in matches. If we find that, we're sure to win the double.......IMO

On what basis could you possibly believe this is true?

If you're going to hold the view that the FFA is actively engaged in fixing matches for PR purposes, you'd better have a better bank of evidence than "my team lost because they were hacked all day". It also conveniently ignores any time that there might have been an error in our favour.

Did the FFA conspire to ignore that Bernie was playing the ball at the same time as Reece Caira and that McBreen was therefore probably offside against Wanderers?

Did the FFA conspire to have Monty not deservedly sent off in Launceston?

Did the FFA conspire to have Hutcho only given a second yellow rather than a deserved straight red in the Sydney game?

Seriously, that's pathetic. We lost that day when we should have finished one of our many, many chances taken the points ourselves. And we gave Del Piero a pretty decent kicking ourselves.

. dibo, i'm not going to argue for or against those comments but could you clarify for the ill-informed (me):

Did the FFA conspire to ignore that Bernie was playing the ball at the same time as Reece Caira and that McBreen was therefore probably offside against Wanderers?

. i haven't heard this brought up as an issue before ... are you suggesting intent decides the outcome? what does or doesn't make it off-side?

Did the FFA conspire to have Hutcho only given a second yellow rather than a deserved straight red in the Sydney game?

. does that actually make any difference? is the difference that a red 'could be' subject to further review?

So this might be just nitpicking.

. a valid point i had mentioned before ... but don't worry oli will come good for the finals. am i correct in thinking that is the only time he has scored for us? if not it must be close

. personally i think our 'lack of composure in front of goal' is tactical ... designed to ensure we are constantly challenging ourselves :overheadl::piralaugh:
