Pre-Season Tour
Monday 4th May 2009

The Club is delighted to confirm its pre-season tour to Australia where Roy Hodgsons men will begin their preparations for the 09\10 season with three games against key teams in the Australian Hyundai A-League.

The team will play its first match of pre-season against Gold Coast United FC at Skilled Park, Robina on Wednesday 8 July, followed by a trip to Melbourne on Saturday 11 July where the team take on Melbourne Victory at Etihad (Docklands) Stadium, and finally finish their three game tour on Wednesday 15 July with a match against Perth Glory FC at the Members Equity Stadium, Perth. All matches are currently scheduled for a 7.30 p.m. kick off, although this is subject to change.

Fulham leave for the Gold Coast just days after returning from their summer break, where the plans and preparations to enable the Club to replicate the successes of this season's campaign, begin in earnest.
Fulham's Manager Roy Hodgson said:

"I am very pleased that we can announce our early pre-season plans and, although this season is yet to end, I am looking forward to our trip to Australia.

"I know that the climate on the Gold Coast, where we will be based, will help enormously with our planning for next season and we have an opportunity to play three teams of quality who I am sure will want to put on good performances against us, which of course is what one hopes will assist the team in both their personal preparations, but also of course collectively."

This is around the time of the confederations cup so none of the Spanish stars will be there.

By the way, how average is the confederations cup looking - iraq, new zealand, usa, south africa. Though having Brazil, Spain and Italy there would be awesome.

New Zealand v Iraq in South Africa what a game this will be. The crowd will be massive! Wish someone would pay for my flight over to see it.

Is this an official FFC(the GP version) Australian tour I wonder?

Increasingly looking like it won't happen. Foxsports FC had no confirmation and they said Sydney will be playing an EPL team.

If this doesn't happen Foster will have some more egg on his face. His nickname should be "the omelette"

It would have to be Homebush and the MCG for the games. Surely they would have monstrous crowds...does anyone recall how many LA Galaxy had for David Beckham? This would have more stars then you can poke a stick at.

And Sydney would get totally destroyed. I reckon 8-0.

believe it was 70k+ cove had that clever banner "hey 70000 we play every week" sydney beat beckem fc 7-4(i think)  i reckon barca will win 19-6

Did anyone else think the beckam game was scripted or at least that he just happened to get a free kick right on that magic little spot where he does his trademark freekick i thought it was suss.

I remember that sign, it was very very well done.

And i would not be at all surprised to find out that whoever it was, was told to foul him to give him the free kick in the right spot.

Most likely, but I don't care. I was there and saw a trademark Beckham freekick, basically the reason why 70000 turned up.
