So there are 12 teams in each pool east and west but only 8 match days. So you don't play everyone but qualify for knock out stages if you finish top 8 of 12.
Seems a bit strange and uneven. Not even home and away vs same teams etc

That's what happens when you take Asian comps seriously instead of stuffing around and getting knocked out in the group stage (they had better results pre-COVID because at least Chinese clubs would make it through at least one knockout round).

Even if/when we lose our best players i still back us to progress from this group. Mainly given that 8/12 progress 😂
The J-league teams are obviously the hardest we’ll encounter. K-league sides similarly, but we can get results again those boys. Not worried about the rest.

Yep, also we went to 0.00 in 2021 (and low in 2020) because of COVID but China basically did the same in 2021 and 2022. China's going to plummet as the 2019 and earlier coefficient points age out.

In the latest rankings China is still getting an extra Elite entry compared to where it's ranked (2+1, versus Iran and Thailand either side only getting 1+1) but I'm not sure whether that's due to earlier rankings or just a +1 China thing.
