Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Asian Champions League 2008 - 'official thread'

Bex - 2 things.

Don't feel dirty about cheering for Adelaide as we will expect and value the whole country's support next season when it's our turn.  :pirashoot:

The big Ogre is back for the away leg. If it is one thing Vidmar has learned, it is how to travel well in these asia games. They will have the benefit of being upgraded to business class this time. 3-0 will be enough to ward Bunyodkor off.  :eek:verhead:

Yeh, both good points MG. I really hope they don't go to Tashkent with the mindset of defending a 3-0 lead though. I would much prefer it if they actually went into the game trying to score a goal.

As there will definitely be a Japanese team in the AFC Champions League final, if the Japanese team wins the AFC Champions League, Adelaide or Bunyodkor will play against Waitakere United in the Club World Cup play-off. If Adelaide or Bunyodkor wins the AFC Champions League, they will enter the Club World Cup at the quarterfinal stage.

The team that comes seventh in the CWC is rewarded with US$500,000. The winner is rewarded with 5 million. I don't think Adelaide can win it, but they will certainly try their best.

Congrats to AUFC fantastic performance last night. They have showed to be a quality team in this competition and hopefully FFA see some sense now and help them out with their schedule especially if they make the final when they play CCM away in between matches.
For next season this is huge for our club and hopefully our gaffer will take notes and get us through like Vidmar has done down there.
Well Done AUFC and Good Luck.
See you in ACL next yr!

How good was the ref tonight too. Can we offer him residency in Australia?

He was bloody good! The best officiated game i have seen in Aus. FFA need to get into Japans ear about refs. Maybe theres a few we could borrow for training purposes?

If Adelaide can manage an away goal it will be all over. That will leave Kuruvchi/Bunyodkor needing to score 5 goals. Having said that we all saw the problems we gave them when they were defending a 3 goal lead. Hopefully they will have learnt from that. Good luck to them in the second leg

They mentioned during the game that he was Chinese.

Yeah, he was Chinese.

Maybe it had something to do with http://www.smh.com.au/news/asian-cup-news/uzbeks-shatter-chinas-dream/2007/07/19/1184559877900.html :)

No, in fact it doesn't matter if Gamba Osaka or Uruwa Reds make the final either way only one Japanese team will go in the CWC.

It is in the rules of the CWC that only one team from a country can be in it. Host nation has an automatic spot. They play against the Oceania representative. If a Japanese team wins the AFC they will take the AFC representative spot and give the host nation spot to the highest ranking non japanese club in the Champions league. If the Japanese team loses the Final then it will be the winner of the J-league (c'mon Nagoya) who will be entered.

It is a solid gold fact that if Adelaide don't f**k up in Tashkent they will be in the CWC. Crazy good news.

I don't know where you've got your info MM, but check it again.

I know what you're talking about.
I'm ahead of you. I can read and speak some of their heathen tongue.
I'm going to kiss the asses of our Chinese overlords and hopefully survive the Great Rvolution.
