AMINI & PEREZ

Some good football brains on this forum.
So what do people think would be the best way to see both of these wonderfully talented players on the park at the same time?

And please don't give me the if it's not broke... etc... I know I know.
But we can't really expect a talent like Amini to just be playing 10-20 mins off the bench next season as well can we?

Otherwise, he may well be wasted on us and better off somewhere else...

(I feel ill)

Thoughts?

PLay Perez just behind Matty Simon with Amini in the midfield is possibly how I would do it... With Perez and Amini swapping positions throughout the game.

sorry but the truth is you cant.

perez doesnt defend and he is not a second striker, you would have to either play 4-3-3, 3-4-3 or 3-5-2 to be capable of playing them both.

playing them both would unbalance the side, unfortunate as it is it shouldnt or wont happen

you'd play a 4-1-4-1, so:

Ryan
Pedj Wilko Dutch Rose
Rostyn
Weemac Amini Perez Olly
Simon

In defence it'd sorta crush down to be a 4-4-1-1:

Ryan
Pedj Wilko Dutch Rose
Weemac Amini Rostyn Olly
Perez
Simon

It's a setup designed for the counterattack more than anything else because as you transition from defence to attack your targets are either the central men or the spaces in the channels for weemac and olly. I don't think it suits us to be honest.

Or you say "Who gives a flying f**k about defence" and ditch Rostyn for a flat 4 midfield with Amini and Perez in the middle.

Once again we would not have many clean sheets and would struggle to get the ball back in midfield but hey, when we had it we could attack like clappers!!

If Rostyn had the mobility and skills of Amini, or if Amini had the physical presence of Rostyn............f**k

It's a hard one, as Dibo suggested you would probably be looking at playing with one forward to accomodate this. The other way I could see is if Weemac or Olly were out you could possibly play Perez as the wide man.

I'd rather play Amini as the wide man!
When Olly or WeeMac our out that is...

It's true, it would be a waste for Amini to warm the bench next season

But Perez is the longer term option. I personally feel he will stay longer than Amini (unless he happens to be homesick?)
But there is also I suppose the idea of $$$$ to think about?
If he left this year, he would go to another club and they would make the profit off him!
If we convinced him to stay, then we wold make the $$$$
I know its a harsh way of looking at it...

But I agree with Anold choosing Perez over Amini

he only possible way would be a 4-1-4-1
But I doubt Perez could be as effective?

433/4312... with a flat back three...

Pedj -- Wilko -- Dutchy -- Rose

Weemac --- Amini --- Ollie

Matty ------ --- Kwas

It's a hard one...

The first 433 or Dibo's 4141 would be my pick, especially if Ollie and Weemac were more consistent goal scorers... Unfortunately there current record make a very good argument for the inclusion of Kwas who has been prolific for us.

With Kwas out as he was before however, certainly a possibility verse bringing on McBreen or Baird... but then you have a large change in system...

It happen in the Sydney game they were both on the field at the same time. From what I could see they both made similar runs and got in each others way. Maybe it was the formation or maybe it was just the way I saw it. What were everyone else thoughts? I know its hard to judge at combination in 10 minutes but for me it doesnt work.

Mmm, I disagree. I thought we looked incredibly threatening with both of them on and had Amini not fluffed his lines they would have combined for the winning goal.

Perez did run into our strikers more than once though, it's a ba habit of his. Communication issue I think.

I think its something that will improve with game time, at the moment neither are sure how to play when the other is on the field, but with some practise I think they can be effective. Especially if Amini keeps his cool when shooting. And once he has learnt that he needs to teach Ollie how to do the same thing.

. i remember he and matty coming together and wasting a great opportunity on the edge of the 18 yard box. matty had done all the hard work ... but he shouldn't have tried to tackle perez (when he tried to pinch the ball and change angle)

. in terms of amini & perez playing together i don't think sunday has given us much to go on. amini was on for only a short period of time ... and unfortunately when he comes on as a sub he seems to take a while to get into the game

Amini needs more game time. The last few games he's looked rusty, but he's only been on a short while each game.
I would love for us to be in a position where Arnie can safely bring him on earlier.
