ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

That long hoof sure beat us playing out from the back...with the type of forwards we've got maybe we should be playing more long balls for the likes of Kuol to run onto.
Ping @marinermick

Modern football you say? Or back to 3 passes forward (vital one is the 2nd) that Alf Ramsay perfected in the early 60's?

At the risk of going all Jonathon Wilson, football is cyclical and everything comes back into style.

Kudos to Staj who has evolved this season. No longer the curriculum zealot, he understands that modern football is not about possession. It’s about effective and fast possession, and the sooner you get to the other side of the field with the least amount of touches, whilst still retaining possession, the better.

The last two seasons we pioneered this in Australia under Jacko and Monty, and now most clubs have followed suit. Auckland and WU do it best. We have regressed.

Not to be confused with route 1 mindless hoofing long balls and hoping to win the knockdowns.

Correct. Big difference. Monty didn’t do it perfectly but we were very lucky to have Cummings at the club, whose influence was massive. We also had the extraordinary talent of Tulio.

Monty also understood the limitations of his budget and recruited mobile and fast players as a result. He also understood that we needed to better fittest team in the league because of these limitations.

Jacko got that last season as well but I honestly believe he is now coaching with one arm behind his back and lacks the resources to be competitive.
