I think that’s unfair. I understand that’s the clubs “financial model”, however, to be successful, it also depends on quality players being brought in to plug the gaps. Monty did well with raw diamonds, absolutely , but in January we need players who can hit the ground running and keep momentum going.. we don’t have the luxury of time to get them brushed up.That is the Club's financial model. Bring in young players, identify and buy in overlooked players for a song, develop those that have the ability and sell them on. Eventually, if done successfully, you can have that rarest of items, a self funding football club.
I do not understand the doom and gloom and talk of conspiracy. The model has been clear for a long time now and is showing results. We have a championship, and young players queuing up for a trial here.
We have coped with the biggest loss of quality players in years, successfully coped with the loss of playing staff, have just had a great win in front of one of our biggest regular season home crowds and are playing competitive exciting football.
Hanrahan descendants obviously settled on the coast
We tried running the Club on zero investment.. do you want to be back there?
Won the championship, yes. Literally 80% of that team and staff are now gone. Queuing up for spots in the Academy also had a lot to do with Monty and Serg and the Clubs success.
All I ever ask is that we be competitive. I will take a 6th place and be thankful.
Definitely no death knells right now.. just mild trepidation. Easily quelled with a successful, proactive January.
