Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

All time Mariners best XI

With less than 30 days to go before season 9 kicks off, we're also less than two years away from getting the first decade Mariners Best XI. So I thought it might be time for a bit of fun and give our opinions on what the current all-time best XI is.

Feel free to tear my team apart but I think it should be:

Formation: 4-2-3-1
GK: Mat Ryan
FBs: Pedj Bojic and Josh Rose
CBs: Alex Wilkinson and Patrick Zwaanswijk
CM: Rostyn Griffiths and John Hutchinson
AMC: Michael McGlinchey
Wingers: Adam Kwasnik and Bernie Ibini
Striker: Matt Simon
Coach: Graham Arnold

Who would you put in your 1st XI?

As a bench player......he is maybe our biggest signing yet so I have to include him. We will see what he can do. If not him then Tommy P tho think Flores is a far superior player. By the end of the season we will see who makes the list...I think Dukey and Caceres will be close calls as well.

Would try to fit Musti and Tommy P in that side.

To date, Musti has been our best number 10. Expect Flores to put that right pretty quickly mind you

Hutcho must be in this team. Yes we have had a long line of great DM's, but Hutch is and has always been the core of this team no matter how much everyone or myself has bagged him through the years.

Arnie and Dutchy has been the main reason for the Mariners 2nd renaissance. Before him the defense was always leaky, even with Vidmar.

Up front: I would say Mcbreen and Matty up front.
Aloisi was great till he went flat during finals time and then rubbish for Sydney the following season.

Backs: Wilko, Dutchy, Saints, Rose - Since Dutchy join unbreakable defense.

Mids: Mile, Weemac, Rogic, Hutcho
GK: Ryan
Bench: Gumps, Griffiths, Sasho, Musti, Pedj, Alosi

I'd like to hope the sting of losing Pedj to Sydney will ease off in the years... but he will get one hell of a reaction when he returns to Bluey for the first time.

Heres hoping Storm has a storming season at the right back position.

What I don't understand is that it's no easier to write and it's harder to read.

I write full words all the time; they fly out because my fingers know where they're going next. Autocorrect means that even with a mobile it's easier to write full words. Either way, it's far harder to type the abbreviations and *much* harder to read - it breaks up the shape of the words and you have to *read* each word rather than simply go on shape.

Even on twitter, I generally don't use abbreviations unless I'm being silly about it (e.g. "kthxbai").

It's not 1995, this isn't IRC. Stop it.

It's harder to do, it's harder to read; it's a pain in the arse.

Death to pointless abbreviations.
