Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. They get half a million in USD. Not sure of the exchange rate but 50m pounds seems unlikely.

The winner of the club world cup only gets 5m USD. That wouldn't have even covered the cost of Grealish's headbands.


Wow - just looked at the 2025 tournament (no tournament in 2024). 32 teams and 4 AFC spots (Saudi/ Qatari clubs buying their way in). 50mill just for qualifying. Winner will get 100m.

Yep, the 50 mill was based on next tournament, but previous years have still been nice little earners just for quantifying.

And the same FIFA run by Blatter and Infantino feels that it can give us morality lessons ["Say NO to racism"].
They need to look in the mirror and "Say NO to corruption".
I had hope when the FBI investigated but the rot is everywhere.
I'm all for your hard option.

Apparently it is now a 4 yearly event so a minimum of around $24m a year just to compete!! Wellington and the new Auckland team who can't get an Asian spot need to lobby for a chance at that.
