ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

So the travel subsidy is unlikely to cover anywhere near the actual cost of a squad travelling across Asia and the required accommodation is it?

30 grand won't go far. 20 flights at $1500.
Bit off the mark there. No way we are paying $USD1500 per person for a return fare to Vietnam, Singapore, Indonesia. Thats $2240AUD per person. They are not travelling on public retail fares, they will be on commercial, contracted group fares and not restricted (hopefully) by the A League and Football Australia contracts that are in place.

The AUD44,000 subsidy will adequately cover player and staff air fares (economy), accommodation, meals and ground transportation for a 3 day trip.

Didn't realise it was USD. Taking how many people? 30 incl staff? I reckon you'll be doing well to cover everything for less than 1500 aud per head. Maybe for some countries...maybe.

Do clubs need to cover their own costs ?
We lost money last time we were in Asia IIRC
In part because the crowds were woeful...

If we can pull 6 to 8 k per home game its looking good... if we pull 1.5 to 2 k we lose big time...

The MSM last time never rated it added to mid week games.... + competition from the NRL ....

IMO needs lots of hand outs at local clubs with key dates ....

Pot 4 also means no chance of a match up with Cummings until after the group stages. Mohun Bagan needs to go through 2 qualifiers to get there and would be in pot 4 as well should they make it in.

For those of me who have no clue - where do PO1 and PO2 winners come from?

I tried looking up info but can't even find a website for the comp. Keep getting taken to AFC Asian Cup or Asia Cup in cricket. How many damn cups do they need!

PO1 and PO2 have to go through a couple of qualifying rounds akin to the ones we used to play to get into the ACL.

So could be one of:

Phonm Penh Crown (Cambodia) or Young Elephants (Laos) for PO1

Yangon United (Myanmar) or Kasuka (Brunei) for PO2.

Both matches take place on the 16th of August supposedly.
