ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Adrian Caceres

What a shrewed acquisition he's been for you guys this season. He brings a creative dimension to your game that I thought was going to be lost when Pondeljak left, although he's been transformed from a winger to central playmaker (the "true #10 role" as I still call it).

Genuine lefties are hard to come across, here or anywhere. There's also Pantelis and Zullo in the A-League, who've also been really good to watch when they're on fire. When you've got a left-footed winger or midfielder of quality, chances are you've got a helluva good one. And that's something we're lucky to have in our country, considering some countries struggle to even find just one. It's gotta be a good thing for the Socceroos in the longer term.

That quality strike on Saturday says it all. Typical of the type of player he is proving to be, and I've seen plenty 8)

Pondeljak is a great player but u would have to say Adrian is a better in the skill, antisipation, shooting etc.

My feelings on Mr. Caceres are very well known.

He's a top player too.  :p

In all seriousness though, you could easily call him the left footed Tommy P, and the thought that we could have had the two of them playing for us at the same time is too much for my man love imagination to handle.

Merrick misused Adrian in Melbourne, and he's misusing Tommy now too.    :naughty:

Lol, if Pondeljak was still playing for us, you wouldn't say that Caceres is better ;)

Back in 1982, Everton signed some lad called Kevin Sheedy from across the park in Liverpool. Bob Paisley was livid he was allowed to move for 100,000 cos he knew how good a player he was- not a fast or hard-working player but an accurate and deadly left foot that could blast in devastating free-kicks, passing and crossing from all sorts of angles. That's the sort of player you just love to have. And he scored for the Republic of Ireland against England in 1990, getting the ball off Steve McMahon to do so ;D

1990 was the year Nottingham Forest picked up two young players who made their debuts that season, Roy Keane and Ian Woan. Oh yes, Ian Woan, another of the classic left-footers and probably one of the most talented players never to win an England cap. He may have been slow and not a hard worker, but his left foot could shoot, pass, cross, win games.

Such players are hard to find, really, unless you know where to look.

Only that Elrich was never going to get going, and the Phoenix fans clearly didn't rate him!
Not as a marquee but a normal player Elrich does good. He will be ready for ACL.

I doubt it. From what I've seen he's lost his pace, which was his main weapon.

Good footballers need things other than pace, athleticism or work rate, IMHO, to stand out.

Elrich started the season well! His crosses are great and i still think is has still got some pace as he showed in round 1 to stop his brother from scoring.

Caceres is a fantastic player for the current 433 formation.

He is the reason that people can't call the team boring or 1-D, even Foster has only said positives about the mariners since Caceres has been playing.

With Jedinak, simon, caceres, macca signed up for the next 2 years the Mariners are looking good.

I thought it was hilairious that McKinna was pronouncing his surname as "Kerakus" for the first month when he first joined, until someone pulled him aside and told him how it was supposed to be pronounced.

caeceres shot was brilliant, but how good are we playing with the 443 formation, i think the reason why we play so well at it is the mentality of the team, they all abide by the 'no dickhead' policy, our team works so hard for each other, it was so good to see on sat night the three forwards working in the 1st and 2nd third to prevent goals going in against us, but in saying that hutcho has to work a lot harder than he is, heff is going to be back in the team soon and porter is playing so well, move bojic to the right and heff on the left and place porter in hutchos spot and that will be awesome
