A new? striker

For the Sydney game, Mcbreen will be suspended, Simon may be injured leaving Kwassie as our lone striker.
I am not thrilled with playing one up front with our midfield seemingly unable to find the net.
My memory may be poor but I do remember in season 2 Lawrie discovered a striker who did ok until he got injured.

Hutchi.

Strikes well with both feet, hard worker, not up to scratch as am or dm, and we have him for 2 more seasons.

Worth a try?

no thanks, would rather see the likes of kwassie, perez, amini, bozanic, wee-mac, and even bernie at striker before hutch steps up and plays up front.

Was just pondering our potential striker woes on the SFC game thread.

We may not have much choice but to look at Hutch... Though I thought of Bernie first also.

But Hucth can shoot well with both feet, works hard and can also hold the ball up... and I guess the worst he can do is fail to score or be involved... And it's not like we haven't experienced that plenty of times before... BUT with the number of people who are on his case, anything less than a brace and the negativity created by such a decision to play him upfront might not be worth it.

If Pedj and Perez don't make the squad, and if Simon and Mcbreen are out... be pretty interesting to see just what team and bench we'll field...

Is Mrdja injured? He played recently for Res/NYL and was named in the squad for the last home game? Or do we now think so little of him that anyone but him is the answer? I reckon FWIW we should play Bernie and if not, then Bernie's mum.

Who to play up front is an interesting question.
If the scenario is that Matty is out then Kwassie would need a partner up front.

Our choices as I see it would then be:-

Plan A
The safe choice would have to be Mrdja due to him being in the squad as a striker. However, previous performances over the past two years haven`t been favourable.

Plan B
Blood another young player from youth league.Bernie seems to be the popular choice but I must admit,I haven`t seen him play.

Plan C
Adapt a player to fill the roll.
The name that seems to be the most popular is Hutcho, as he has filled this roll before. As pointed out previously Hutcho can hold the ball up & has scored some good goals albeit a while ago now. His shortfalls tho would be speed, ability in the air & positional play, but in his favour is he is used to playing the ball back so with Amini playing behind him it could work.

Plan D
Another scenario could be to play an absolute roughie up front like Doig.
Doig is big, good in the air & would probably relish the challenge. With Kwassie running off him it would present SFC with something unpredictable to defend against.
As a noted defender he could also put the Sydney defenders under pressure in the front third & we would also have the benefit of another big man up front on set plays.

I know i`ll be shot down in flames...(Lmfao) but to do this for the first half then bring on the youth player may work.

The past 2 years????

He's done practically nothing (and for some reason keeps being signed) since the first pre-season. I've always been keen to keep him on the books until 6 months or so ago. I thought that maybe playing with the Victory would finally get his mind right. Apparently an ACL role wasn't enough to keep him motivated. The sooner we lose his inflated wage the better.

Maybe then we could afford the marquee we deserve...... (and I don't wanna hear that he's not on that much this year, even if it is indeed the case. He has f**ked us with his wage for way too many years as it is)

. i don't like the idea of kwas and mrdja together even if this is most likely. the times i remember them playing together nik was putting a lot of shit on kwas

. we don't need nik bringing kwassie's confidence down

Heard from a never before wrong source that we signed a new striker starting in January he is Norwegian ... and I am not sure whether this year or some time ago he was the leading goal scorer in the Norwegian league..
