The big fellow up stairs is sometimes kind sometimes he appears cruel. Every now and then you must have been living a very good life as he gives you a gift. Sometimes people can not see the gift and for them you must feel sorry.

The big fellow has given A-League fans a big gift and the Mariners the best of all. Why the Mariners .. well me thinks it’s all the fibs some people have said. We all know the cave man team, the long ball specialist etc. So he has given the Mariners a special gift, a rare gift because it is had to think of one before him.

The big Fellow has given the Mariners arguably the best 17 year old player I have ever seen play live. His display against Perth Glory was one that had me in disbelief. Would he be over oared … could he handle the physical side of things .. handle it he mastered it..Within twenty minutes he was being double marked and at times had three players on him with his shirt being held.

Why was I so impressed, simple the speed at which he did things and the control he had on the ball. Some things he did last night were simply sublime. My best was the pass to McBreen he got in position to receive the ball early sent his defender just enough to open up a small hole and then threaded a pass of such perfect weight and all in a nanosecond .

My advise is he is Europe bound within two years if you can get to a match and he is playing do yourself a favour and go and watch a true number 10 he will only get better so while it is not to late go and see him play.

A huge congratulations to the Mariner players after playing Amini they convinced LM to have a second look. A huge congratulation to LM for signing the gift the big fellow offered and finally a mega congratulation to Graham Arnold who played him as a number 10 and did no ask him to come back in defence all night.

The big fellow always gives you a choice and the player some believe and GA has hinted as well was brought in to help develop Amini …. Perez … how can you drop Amini how can you not play Perez … what to do GA its up to you.

But folks enjoy our little gift and go see him play …

All those involved in getting Musti to our club deserve a medal. GA deserves a medal for having the faith to start him.
If you didn't know better, you wouldn't have believed Saturday was his first senior start, he looked so comfortable he might have been there for years.
When we were taking a corner or a free just outside, all the big guys were clustered in the outer reaches of the box, but Musti was in monstering the keeper. What confidence! Loved it.

absolutely...Mus aint a gun yet.....he soon will be, with the way Arnie is using him, ie not rushing anything, that will get him used to the league and before long firing on all cylinders

A star is born. I was blown away with his starting debut. If he keeps his head down and receives the right advice, he can be anything. Arnie will keep him well grounded and look after him.

From SBS ...

http://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/news/1029921/Amini-repays-Arnold's-faith

Central Coast Mariners coach Graham Arnold said after the weekend match against Perth Glory that he refused to sign an injury replacement for Brad Porter - who is out for the season - because he did not need to.

What for? Give the kids a go!” Arnold said.

”How do you know what kids can do until you give them a go.”

Arnold’s gamble in introducing Young Socceroos midfield star Mustafa Amini to the A-League stage has already paid handsome dividends for the club.

Amini, the Sydney-born son of an Afghan father and Nicaraguan mother, signed a two-year contract with the Mariners last January.

The attacking midfielder, who regards Harry Kewell and Steven Gerrard as his boyhood idols, gave a good account of himself when he came on as a second-half substitute in the Mariners’ match against Brisbane Roar on October 30.

So much so that Arnold had no qualms about giving Amini his first start against Glory at the weekend.

Amini did not disappoint his mentor and gave a commanding performance that belied his tender age in a 5-0 romp.

”When I came on against Brisbane we were 2-0 down so we had nothing to lose,” Amini, 17, said.

”But last weekend when I started against Perth with all the big boys as my teammates it was more exciting.

”Actually I was really nervous but all the boys helped me and told me ‘pretend this is a trial match and you’ll be fine’.

”Arnie told me ‘I have full confidence in you’.”

Amini, whom Arnold regards as a “classic No. 10 with the world at his feet”, said that he was happy and surprised to secure a two-year professional contract so soon after finishing school.

But having made the grade he also realises that resting on one’s laurels at such a young age is the perfect way to ruin a promising career and he is already setting himself bigger targets.

”My ambition is to keep playing A-League regularly and keep doing well and then hopefully go overseas and play over there,” he said.

”But I need to work on the physical side of my game, like speed and fitness.

”I still have a lot to learn.”

Amini said he was grateful to former Mariners coach Lawrie McKinna for giving him an opportunity to become an A-League player ... right under the noses of Sydney FC.

”Sydney FC didn’t say anything to me at all,” he said when asked why he did not join his local club.

”Lawrie came up to me and offered me a contract.

”The professional environment at the Mariners is great, first grade football and all that. It’s quite a big change from the AIS. It’s a dream come true.”

Amini still lives in Sydney and commutes with some of his new club-mates to Gosford for training or matchdays.

”I’m on P-plates but I don’t have a car yet,” he said.

”So I don’t drive to Gosford also because I can do only 90 km/h on the F3 freeway, anyway.

”So I car-pool with four or five team-mates who live in Sydney.”

We need to secure him to a longer term contract!! There is no doubt the way he is playing and developing that he will head overseas at some point in the not too distant future. May as well try and extract as much out of him as we can (apologies but I am taking the hard headed business approach).

I very much agree. Mainly because we don't want him leaving as a free agent in 2 years and us getting no money out of him. Of course ideally we'd keep him but he's said he wants to play in Europe and we can't deny him that. We should sign him up till 2015 :D
