Triple J listeners' top 5 of all time

1. Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana
2. Killing In The Name - Rage Against The Machine
3. Hallelujah - Jeff Buckley
4. Love Will Tear Us Apart - Joy Division
5. Paranoid Android - Radiohead

Hard to argue with that... but a bit surprised that Hallelujah made it to #3. Brilliant album and I would've thought Last Goodbye would've been a more popular choice from it.

Out of interest, here is the rest of the Top 10

6. Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen
7. Last Goodbye - Jeff Buckley
8. Under The Bridge - Red Hot Chili Peppers
9. Everlong - Foo Fighters
10. Stairway to Heaven - Led Zeppelin

Interesting to see how many dead artists are in that list - 5 (at least)

Big ticks for your mainstream selections FCC... especially including The Jam. To Be Someone was the first song I learnt to play (badly) when jamming with my friends as a pimply teenager.

Billy Bragg supported by Weddings Parties Anything at the Civic Theatre Newcastle would be up there with one of the best concerts I have ever seen.

I'll bet around 1977-78 when you were into the last 3 on that list you hated the first two...... ;)

Did you see PJ at Eastern Creek in 95? I was at that, f**king unbelievable! 41000, and i was right at the front, full mud mosh! Oh to be 19 again.

I wont lie. In 1995, I was 10. I didn't go to my first concert til I was 11, and that was Cold Chisel. Haha, I saw them in....2001 I think it was? I was in year 10.

Cailin - Unwritten Law
Harpoon - Jebidiah (will also take the something for kate version and only slightly edged leaving home and teflon)
You sound like Louis Burdett - The Whitlams
The Dirty Glass - The Dropkick Murphys
Time bomb - Rancid (although some of the new stuff is pretty fricken awesome)

I love your list. Jebediah "Slightly Oddway" is amazing.

MxPx - Quit Your Life

Awesome, but there are so many other PX songs I would have chosen before this one... Before Everything and After is no match for their other, earlier albums.

Looking at that list again I realise that the only band I have failed to see live is Rancid, all the rest I have seen multiple times lol. and agree 5 is just to short a list.

love that song! maxwell murder is better tho ;)

See I rate ruby soho better than both of those songs but I think it shows which part of their music you identify with more by the songs you choose of it.

...and out come the wolves has to be the strongest album Rancid did

hmmm
all before my time (ie. pre-1990)
although a top 10 would see 2-3 'newer' songs

I want you back- Jackson 5 (edges out ABC)                    1969
Girl Crazy- Hot Chocolate (edges out everyones a winner)    1982
Breaking Free- Queen (I saw the video clip for the first time yesterday...man that is gay) 1984                  I first heard it 2009...how about that
I'm gonna be (500 miles)- Proclaimers    (edges Queen- Champions)            1988
Never tear us apart- INXS (sadly its the Scum song...but i still love it) 1988

My dads has a few Hot chocolate tracks which I grew up listening to, Queen is legendary, 500 miles is gun (i forgot it, just edited in now)

suppose now I just wait til I get teased for Hot chocolate
and ofcourse harrassed for liking the SCUM song- meh

oh and the first song is older than my mum :p

Muse are my favourite band of all time, but something about Pearl Jam(in particular Eddie Vedder) just makes me stop everything and listen

+1. Eddie Vedder is awesome...When I saw them live, it was just amazing. Don't know what it is hey...his cover of "Hide Your Love Away" on the I am Sam soundtrack is amazing...

1. Cailin - Unwritten Law
2. The Beautiful Letdown - Switchfoot
3. The Science of Selling Yourself Short - Less Than Jake
4. Death Bed - Relient K
5. Wishlist - Pearl Jam

Only 5 is lame. haha. They are definately the 5 songs I'll never go past on the iPod.

Did you see PJ at Eastern Creek in 95? I was at that, f**king unbelievable! 41000, and i was right at the front, full mud mosh! Oh to be 19 again.
