It's been four years since the A-League launch and the Mariners being officially accepted in the competition. It has been a wild ride so post some of your favourite moments here. I know it has been done before but it always good to go through them again.

So many highlights but here are my top five:
1. Mariners first ever game in Newcastle. Seeing months of hard work culminate into a packed bay 16. Action packed game and the winning penalty shootout. Going nuts as Heff potted the winner and the celebrations that night.
2. First Sydney away train trip. The train ride, pub crawl, the rain, Spenny hitting the winner in injury time, the post-match celebrations at the KB (thanks Steve the Croat) and the train trip home.
3. NYE 4-1 v Scum. Having not slept for over two days and travelling non-stop in that time from Brussells via Nth America to get to Gosford in time to see the shellacking.
4. Best ever highlight for me was the season one final game in Adelaide. Seeing Tommy get the winner in injury time and holding on for dear life as our defensive effort was brilliant and Danny supreme. Post-match celebrations with the players under the grandstand afterwards, celebrations in Adelaide all night with the players and supporters and missing our 6am flight and therefore work that day.
5. 3-0 over scum major semi. So much joy and emotion that night and the sponstaneous scenes outside the leagues club.

But most of all I am truly grateful for all the friendships made in this time.

Thanks you Mariners.

In order for me:

1) The 3-0 semi at home to the scum last season. I still have the goals commentary on my MP3

2) V3, game 1 away to SFC. Saso scores after 7 mins and we hang on for the rest of the game

3) V1, away semi at EAS when Ossie scored and we won 1-0

4) Last 25 mins of the game against SFc the other week when we drew 3-3

5) CCLC on the night we won the title

1. Final in adelaide, the mariners faithful in the the scenic lounge going absolutely nuts. there may of even been people dancing on the tables. then the que forming almost immediately afterwards to get tickets to the grandfinal.
2. 1st Wellington away game. Speights is good. 2-1 result to us
3. The two buses to Queensland end of season 1. Long road trip, cheap accomadation had saved up for a few months for it the result didn't matter and then there was the pilfering that occured on the way up and the fire estinguisher incident.
4. Perth away game last season. Trotty being an absolute hero to hold onto a 1 nil win.
5. Melbourne away last season. Having a random guy walk up to the small group of yellow at the time. explain that he was a coastie, the accountant of the guy who owned the pub we were in and proceded to buy/supply a round of pints for us all.
6. 4-0 over Perth in season one, absolutely bucketing down no emos in 16 just the loyalist of the loyal bayites standing in the rain.

Basically any interstate away trip has been awesome.

Great highlights Mick and you can't go past those.

Tommy scored after about 6 mins though, not in injury time.  Adelaide V1 though was without doubt my favourite day......meeting up with Macari and family, football in the park, meeting the players and wishing them luck, the celebrations afterwards.....priceless!

Awesome post Mick.
Game wise I can't go past Adelaide semi. After being starved of Bay 16 action and mates for so long while living in SA, having all the yellow come down and celebrate in such fantastic fashion, having loads of yellow people camp out on the floors at home still makes me smile!

An 'off field' highlight, sitting in the Kendall watching an away game on the big screen for the first time when it was purchased

Good thread Mick!

In order for me, but it could easily have been a bunch of other fond memories:

1) The 3-0 semi at home to the Scum last season. I still have the goals, the final whistle, and the singing outside the ground on my HD camcorder. My all-time greatest - will be hard to top this one.

2) The night we won the Premiership at a Jets mates place. I was too nervous to call it an enjoyable night, just one of relief that the agony of waiting was over, considering we should have won the title at a canter.

3) Last 25 mins of the 3-3 game against Bling FC, our last game.

4) The New Year's Eve matches - Balmy nights, good crowds, girls all frocked up for NYE...

5) Being accepted by the Marinators fans despite coming from Boganville.

6) The Marinators Express train and KB Hotel sing ups on the way to the two Grand Finals.

bjw
1) beating sydney 1-0 in the first game of Round 1, season 3.
2) Spanking the Jets 3-0 in the Major Semi
3) Beating Jets this season 1-0. Our first win over the jets in the regular season for god knows how long.
4) Mariners v Melbourne season 3. Tommy P with the winner, coming back from 1-0 down.
and..

5) Matty Simons first goal in the A-League vs Jets Round 1, season 4.. Although the game ended in a draw. the 3 minute period after Simons goal was insane.

P.S. 6) Season 2. vs Sydney. Our second win of the season. Beating sydney back in the days when the supporter bays were virtually next to each other.

1) 3-0 against jets in V3 major semi to send us to the GF. The whole match was a high and the amazing scenes outside CCLC topped it off superbly.

2) 4-5 game against the smurfs V3 where I fully realised that the Mariners are made of extra special stuff - thats EXTRA special stuff, not just special stuff :)

3) 1-1 draw against jest V4 away in Rnd 1 where I totally lost my voice singing "ole, ole" and "we all follow a yellow football team" with the Marinators for about 20 minutes, culminating in Matty Simon's first A-League goal (well, the one that wasn't wrongly called offside at least). I'm certain we actually helped Matty score that goal ;D

Mariners Till I Die

ahaha cheers smartass.

So many moments, but i will give it a go.

1. V1 Grand Final.
Although we lost, this was a special day I will never forget. Nick Hornby in Fever Pitch described games like these, finals at Wembley in beautiful weather, everyone in fine voice, beers etc. We had our own equivalent.
The whole day was fun, early packed KB full of yellow, Cricketers arms singoff with the Cove.
It was a culmination of a great season and a perfect introduction to the greatest team.

2. Winning the Premiership. That crazy last round!
CCM vs Wellington. Last minute goal from Kwaznik provided amazing scenes and giving us that added advantage on the GD
Going to a 30,000 packed SFS and cheering on Melbourne for a result - which we got. And then rushing over to Paddington Arms for to watch another result work in our favour and confirm the Premiership.

3. Signing John Aloi$i
When I first got the msg that he was signing, I went nuts. Every person I talked to who is a fan of the A-league, the Mariners and sport in general was amazed that our no longer "tiny" club had signed the Aussie legend. For a fortnight everyone was crazy about the man and how we had managed to bring him to Bluetongue. We got some goals out of him and he helped us get over the line and win us the Premiership, and for that i say thanks for the Mariners and Socceroos memories J.A.

Favourite Marinators Moments.
Running the Cove dressed as a Banana
Dinamo beating Cove at Mingara
Singing Yellow Football team continuously in Newcastle culminating in a Matt Simons goal
Post match KB after our 3-3 comeback at SFS (Last week)

That was the first time I actually made it to a match in Gosford. I just remember walking into the Kendall Bar only for Golden Boy (I think) to yell out "it's Auburn Mariner with hair".
The away trip to Newcastle a week later may have been a let down, but the spat between Sacko and Amber on the bus back to Gosford was just priceless.

Adelaide 2-0 Qld, 20/01/08. :p

(Round 21 of Season 3)
JA leading the team in a sing-off with the Marinators at the pub afterwards.... until a few verses of "We're all going to Johhny's house" shut them all up
