OK so the season's been utter dross and we struggled last night and everything that could go wrong did...

But there's a derby on Sunday so I'm getting in early. FIRE UP. #FTS

I still genuinely believe that we CAN beat any team, IF we find gear, gain a bit of confidence (which we do any time we score), and there are no amateur mistakes from the back line/Izzo. Even against MCY, when we were ahead we were looking alright.....and Jets aren't that far ahead of us. We CAN win this, but the YA needs to put on a big show of support and make a lot of noice.
Let's not let that pack of scum make more noise than us!!

We definitely can win this. Garcia pulling some strings should help.

We've lost half our backline and our entire right wing. How to adjust?

I'd play:
Bray
Neill - Ascroft - McGing - Rose
Monty - Rose
Buhagiar - Garcia - Austin
Bingham

Izzo did pull off some great saves but gives me no confidence

We've shown we have the quality up front when needed, but our execution and defence is poor and that's what ends up leaking goals by the truckload.

I think we're 1 short of conceding 50 this season and we've kept no clean sheets. Hopefully we can change that this Sunday.

Predicted lineup? Let's assume TW won't bench Izzo and avoid the stress of complaining about it...

Injured: Roux, McGing
Suspended: Roy, Posco, Fabio

Mine:
Izzo
McDonald Uskok Ascroft JRose
LRose Monty Neill
Garcia
Fletcher/Trent Bingham Austin

Subs Bray Berry Jamba Stella Trent/Fletcher

Honestly I have no idea what to make of our side and have no problem being told so lol

The injuries and suspensions create an opportunity for us to switch things around a bit.
Austin and Fab have been our most potent threats on the counter but their work rate and width compromises our midfield.
How about starting with a good old 4 4 f**king 2
Bray
Neill Ascroft Uskok Rose J
McGing Monty Rose L McDonald
Austin Bingham

Garcia, Buhagiar, Berry, Fletcher, Izzo.

I'm an idiot savant without the pesky savant bit
Im trying to fire up I really am, but I reckon Scott Miller must be stoked beyond belief about the fall of the cards for this upcoming derby

All games start 0-0, we will always have a chance.

We need a RB (Jamba??) a CB (??) wide right (Bingers??)

You never know

My understanding is McGing picked up an injury last night but I can't be 100% on that
The week before? Was out for a week so i'm hopeful he'll be back. We will be struggling with all the injuries/suspensions/inexperience/confidence etc, but it's winnable
I'd like to see -
Bray
Neill-McGing-Ascroft-Rosey
Liam Rose-Monty
Bing-Stella-Austin
Fletcher

I don't think Luis will last 90 especially in a derby like this. He has looked better coming on later.
I'd like to see a more physical forward like Heff or Fletcher, and we know it won't be Heff.

Garcia on for Stella at half time.
Izzo, Macdonald, Uskok,Trent round off the bench.

I know it's highly likely that McGing fell off his chair last nite whilst holding his Foxtel remote after watching our performance in his lounge room.

Dont know if that would've exacerbated his gluteus tear to keep him out of this weeks game. ;)

(Edit: damn you LP whilst I was typing :p)

Thought young Trent did enough to warrant another start.

Lovely ball to Austin for our goal and against a slow scum back 4 his pace could force them to sit deep creating space for our midfield

I was wondering why his presence wasn't felt last night:doh:

Surely Fletcher would be in contention for RB. Has to be at least 1 WTF selection.

I'd go

Bray
McGing Ashcroft Uskok J Rose
Monty L Rose
Garcia
Buhagaria Bingham Austin

Will be
Izzo
Neill Ascroft McGing J Rose
Monty L Rose Berry
Bingham Garcia Austin

Given Jamba was abruptly subbed during our NPL game yesterday when word of Storm's injury got to the ground, I'd be stunned if he wasn't at least named on the bench.

Having looked at our stats over the past few games I hold very little hope for this game but will be there to hope for a miracle.

Could be worse, could have been a Derby fan in 2008/09 when they only recorded 1 win and 11 points in the season ;)

I just hope the players can lift, I hope TW and Hutch can motivate the boys, do it for Storm , show the fans that we're all as passionate as they are etc............beat Newcastle and that goes a long way for many supporters.

Probably right. I'm just not sure how he would go in an F3 derby as a first game. Don't know much about him. Bench probably.

Throw caution to the wind .....

---------------- 3 - 4 - 3 ---------------------

& really utilise the pace we've got in the front 3rd by trying to control the midfield more and just keep feeding the front 3 with balls in behind and do it quickly.

Blasphemous for some, but maybe give it a try. John Van't Schip has used it many a time this season, it helps them dominate the midfield and gives Mooy the licence to float freely and create, which clearly works.

-------------------------- Bray ---------------------------------

------- McGing ------ Uskok ----- Ascroft -------------

- Junior -------- Monty -------- Neil --------- Rosey -

----- (Garcia) -------- (Garcia) ---------- (Garcia) --

---------- Austin ------ Fletcher ------ Bingham -----

Neil & Rosey could swap - depending on if Josh is getting done for pace on the flank. Neil definitely has the better motor.

When Garcia comes on it's more a 3 - 3 - 3, with LG just floating where he wants between the the midfield and front 3 , anywhere along that line.

We'd have to stay compact to keep the middle tight and make them try and come at us down the flanks (where we can match them in pace) which is the complete opposite of how we've been getting done mostly this season.

BENCH:
GARCIA, to come on @ 45/ 55 min at the

latest for either Junior/Neil/ Rosey depending on each's performance & legs.
BUHAGIAR, playing 75min in his first start,
may have taken a little bit out of him + the nervous energy he would of burnt up as well. Better for him to terrorise 2nd half/ later in the game against a tired defense. Covering any tired/injured of the front 3.
MACDONALD, Flexibility to formation.
Offers cover as a LB /RB if we need to revert to a back 4. Covers wide Midfield as well.
BERRY, Another speedster to cover tired &/
or injured of the front 3.
IZZO, fingers crossed Bray has a cracker.

We need a lot more energy on the pitch and TW should let the player's know there's NO shame in being the first player to 'gas-out'. In fact it'll be more like an achievement i.e especially for someone like Fletch, I'd rather he put his hand up because he's got nothing left in the tank at half-time from putting in a furious 45min of movement and work so Buhagiar can come on & do exactly the same thing until 'he's dead' in the 93rd min.

Leave it all out on the pitch

Likewise the midfield. Having 4 allows Monty to focus on breaking up the play through the middle of the pitch without having to cover as much ground in the wider areas as he has been required to do when we've had just the x2 DM's. He'll also be little deeper allowing him to drop into the back 3.

Junior/Rose/Neil. But suspect Rose Snr would make way for Garcia at 45 or 55 min at the latest.

Just have Q's as to whether Uskok could handle the pressure of a back x3 in the middle or should he play on either side with both young Ascroft & McGing ???

Like I said, the back 3 can always revert to a back 4 with Rosey/Neil dropping in at LB and RB respectively.

Might pull it off & be a template for the remaining games.

(Edited slightly to explain better)

I'd love to get a result on this game for our team and players, but I can't see it happening with reasons I have discussed in other the threads but I will be there regardless of results. The players deserve a positive result

Every time I see Izzo set a wall, I think here comes a goal.

It is like the old days when every time we were awarded a penalty the odds were always in favour of a miss.
