The March set of fixtures has been locked in including four home games, one double header, a trip to Western Australia and a journey to Mudgee.
With the February Frenzy of fixtures almost behind us, March continues the feast of football with a home game against Brisbane Roar beginning the month on the 5th of March at 5:05pm, followed by a newly added home match on Wednesday 9th March against Melbourne Victory. This match will kick off at 5:05pm and will be followed by the Wellington Phoenix and Newcastle Jets Isuzu UTE A-League Men’s match at 7:45pm, included in the same ticket at Central Coast Stadium.
With the Wednesday fixture against Melbourne Victory being added, Saturday’s match against Perth Glory in Western Australia has been moved to Sunday the 13thMarch, kicking off at 7:05pm AEDT (4:05pm AWST) in what will be the second game back in the state since the border opened.
Returning to NSW, the next fixture involves a trip to Mudgee on the 19th of March as the Mariners return to Glen Willow Stadium to face Macarthur FC, kicking off at 5:05pm in what is the beginning of an exciting partnership between the club and the region.
The month will be concluded with a home match against Adelaide United on Saturday the 26th of March at 7:45pm at Central Coast Stadium.
March will be a defining month for the season as a whole and if the Mariners hope to mount a finals charge, must maximise the points return from these matches.

It's ludicrous that we are the first game in a double header at our stadium when most fans don't finish work until 5pm or, in my case 5:30pm. We should be the 7:45pm game.
C'mon mate, look at it from someone else's point of view, we've taken our home game to mudgee so f**k us and let the jets fans get to the game in plenty of time.

And no one wants to watch the spooners at 5pm.....too early? #irony#

Is anyone else more pissed off about this season than our other terrible seasons, we are actually playing some decent stuff and have a quality team but everything that can go wrong is going wrong, I’m in pain, this hurts

Not going to happen but my current on form line up to stop this mayhem.

* Bring Tonj back in to start getting match fitness but with the protection of a defensive lineup that can use width for attack.

* Use the experience of Muller and Olly where they can actually hold their position rather than running around like headless chook.

* Have Urena as the shoe sub and make sure he chases down the ball as a team with the other forward replacement.

* This team and lineup allows more secure passing and defending higher rather than letting them into our midfield.

Yeah, mine was similar but with Urena up top/10.

Whenever Urena isn’t on the pitch our attack completely dies. It’s not even subjective it’s black and white. You (general you not you specifically) might think he needs a spell but then it happens and you realise how much worse we are without him. One of the first names on the team sheet for me.

Not pissed off, disappointed that we are playing well in patches but just missing out on the points.
With so many inexperienced players this will be our lot for a while. They will have bad days where inexperience shows, but good ones when potential is on for display.

If there is any silver lining while we are not winning the poachers with money are less likely to be looking at our potential stars and we may get another season from them when they can show the benefit of their further experience before they move on.
Good for the fans, bad for the Club's finances, at least in the short term. Even then they may be able to get more in transfer fees with a young player who shows better in the future.

To be realistic.
Expectations: middle of the table when it is working, finals in good years, dodge the spoon.

I think we are now mentally broken, covid is no longer an excuse as we have played too many games. Reality is the same as last season, we start off well when other teams are still gelling but after about 8 to 10 rounds they catch up and overtake us. Last season we had enough points to hang on and unfortunately this season we do not and all the rosters are stronger than last season. Last season was an anomaly with other teams having weaker rosters.

I’m not hanging onto hope any more for this season and we are in a serious fight to avoid the spoon. We couldn’t beat Glory at home and if we don’t destroy Roar this weekend it’s ours for the taking. This isn’t doom and gloom it’s reality. Accept it now to avoid anymore disappointment.

Our midfield is the weakest in the league by a long way, that’s why the attack isn’t clicking. O’Shea will tear us apart on current form. I blame our lack of goals and leaky defence on midfield alone. Not getting an adequate replacement for Stens was our biggest mistake. There is a reason Oli is doing so well in the Alex Tobin awards because he is pretty much our midfield. To his credit he has kept it together to a reasonable level by himself and that couldn’t last. If he gets injured we will lose 5 nil to someone.

Hindsight is wonderful, we should have looked for a midfielder instead of a striker. We did not spend the $$ wisely or where it was truely needed. Took Stens 3 years to be truely valuable and not sure Steele or Balard will live up to being his replacement but we will have to wait a few more years to truly know.

I’m at peace now and I’m not blaming the Ref for us losing last night. The result reflected how we played.

I honestly don't understand how we are in this position. I think we have one of the best squads in years. We have talented strikers, wingbacks eager to get forward and attack, a solid pair of central defenders, ditto DMs [except when Nizz is played on the wing - god I hate that], and our imported wingers have real talent too. We have some depth on the bench as well. I am confident that we can match any team in the competition, and with the exception of conceding late goals, [and our genuinely shitty performance against Victory after the cup final] we have demonstrated this. I've never been a fan of sacking coaches when things don't go well, but I think decisions like playing Nizz out of position, and delaying subs until players are cooked may have contributed to losses. I have an enormous amount of respect for Monty-not just his playing career, but what he has done with the youth boys and his promotion of some of them has paid off.
Its probably impossible for a late run for the finals, but I cant help thinking of what could have been. Someone above mentioned the psychological effect on the players after a losing streak, and I hope that is addressed by the coaching staff somehow

We have a good squad it’s just most others are better. All our problems stem from the midfield and that is almost impossible to fix at this stage in the comp. I’m not a Monty out fan I’m a realist and maybe next season we can improve on this season. But now we need to fight hard to avoid the spoon, this is still a very real possibility but the next game needs to be treated like a GF.

Over reaction. That thinking leads to the revolving door and fixes nothing.

FFS a few weeks ago he was the best coach in the league bringing our first finals attempt in yonks with a squad that would be mostly on the bench, or not even considered in most other teams.

I never cease to be amazed at how powerful the goo can be.

Ludicrous. Kiwi's are either watching a game on streaming a bit late or catch the replay the next day. This is a live home fixture FFS. AT leats make it so the fans who will come, can come.

I don't blame Monty, he's made some mistakes and needs to have a look at his substitution strategy, but really we've been horribly unlucky the last 4 or 5 games and it's been compounded by cheating refs.

This must be an extremely difficult situation for the young players in the team. There'd only be 1 or 2 players who's commitment/work rate I'm not sure about. Like I've said before if the guys are giving 100%and coming up short is not really fair to go them. We've had a very busy schedule mixed in with emotional trauma from being cheated, the team is tired. I'm hoping a week rest and training will see us come out strong against roar at home.
