ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

2013 - Where are you playing this year?

The logic actually comes back to f**kwits like Cristiano Ronaldo, to wit:

c.ronaldo.jpg

This essentially comes down to changing the colour of the socks. Why he can't tape his ankles on the inside like anyone else I don't understand.

FIFA decides to actually change Law 4 to make the rule say:

stockings- if tape or similar material is applied externally it must be the same colour as that part of the stocking it is applied to

That's where the sledgehammer has been applied. All CCF is doing is enforcing the Law.

Fundamentally (though on a different scale) I don't understand why people need to tape things on the outside of their socks. Shinguards (if they need to be taped) can be taped on the inside, socks (if they need to be taped) can be taped under the fold.

It's not that hard...

And if after all that, you still need tape, you can buy tape the colour of your socks!

Not if you play for Tuggerah.

What colour do they play in? Must be new since I stopped playing for Gosford in 1999.

Best described as maroon I suppose, although there may be some TUFC players out there who might like to correct me.

Ref we had at the weekend said "if you were Tuggerah, who struggle to get tape, I'd be more lenient. But your socks are red so either take the white tape off or spend the day on the bench."

Thanks pal o_O

Exactly. The CCF and their referees have the power to be discretionary here, but obviously choose not to be. That said, so far this season I have encountered some refs who are stringent and some who either don't know the rule or don't give a fudge. Personally, I believe it is one of those stupid rules that somehow find their way into our game and only give us more grief on match day. Instead of working on real issues (like the offside rule), bureaucracy insists on piffling issues like this. Idiots.

And then you get refs like the one we had on the weekend. He had to be educated about almost every rule. And TBF if I had realised that he was going to listen to every call I made on his behalf, I would have called a few more ;)

One of our lads copped a knock last weekend but didn't get treatment or leave the field. Ref tried to order him off the field though when I insisted he didn't have to leave the pitch as the trainer was never called to to provide treatment he looked as confused as... well, something that's often confused. He then asked me "how do you know the rules" (note - rules, not laws?). Game was restarted by a drop-ball even though the match had been stopped by us putting the ball out of play. Refs, eh?! ;)

The idiot we had on the weekend had to be informed that if he calls a foul in the box, it should be a dot shot... when I mentioned this to him he said... ohhh yeah thats right like it had totally slipped his mind! (I may have also told him to blow the foul, but that's beside the point) :innocent:

Agree. Surely black tape on Tuggerah's maroon socks would be acceptable? Anyhow, my bewilderment on this totally stupid and pointless rule continued at the weekend when the referee allowed a Gosford player to wear black socks (instead of red) in one game, and then in the following game insisted that tape on Umina's socks was yellow or you don't start.

I have heard the referees have already voiced their displeasure at having to enforce this rule, it will just put the referees in the middle of something that is completely unnecessary and would further antagonise relations between referees and players and coaches

Good News Week - Soccer NSW Refs Assoc. have sent a directive out (includes CCF) that the tape on socks ruling is gone. Good sense prevails.

Lets see what happens, its technically a FIFA rule, for park football itis the dumbest rule and doesnt help a referee at all

But good if you want to play cricket at half time.

Umina are a decent club. I prefer SEU on the peninsular but nothing wrong with Umina.

Get the heavy roller out or the ball goes straight through the crust. Variable bounce, nightmare for keepers. Bit of turn later for the spinners.
