ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Congratulations on the success of winning the Grand Final!

I'd like to ask about one of your players, Trent Sainsbury

I support Bolton Wanderers in England and he is being heavily linked with a move to us. Southampton are also interested

I would appreciate it if you could tell me a little more about him. If are successful in signing him, we apparently plan on using him at right back.

Thanks! :)

. personally i think he is a far better player in the centre of defence ... particularly under the system we play

. but for a kid who is barely 21 he has been massive for us this year often showing up his far more experienced partner. his timing and reading of the play sets him apart, his calmness and ball-playing add the polish. plus i think he is faster than he was a couple of years ago

. so keep your dirty paws off ! :piralaugh:

. oh and i can't believe he would not have out-performed any efforts i have seen at the back from our national team lately (just quietly i hope any move overseas does not limit his chances/availability for the national side)

. if you steal him from us ... you had better be sending over lots and lots and lots of money

aye, high quality player there. he's impressed consistently and it is generally regarded he's a national team player any moment, most sill be stunned if he's not called into our next squad.

as well as being superlative in defence his attacking play in setting balls forward is as good as you'll see, from centre back he has been the assist in several of our goals this season

Sounds very promising

So the consensus is that he is a better centre back than he is right back?

Our manager, Dougie Freedman, is very good friends with Tony Popovic so he may have recommended him. Freedman also signed another Australian for his previous club Crystal Palace, Mile Jedinak.

Mile Jedinak is a former Mariners player and was a fantastic player for us.

And yes, far better centre back than right back. Has great awareness and can read the play brilliantly. Is pretty pacy as well which you don't notice till you see him live (my opinion anyway)

I think he would be more suited to the Bundesliga or Dutch league than the Championship but he is a great player and future national team starter.

Good luck with Bolton and I hope your season has been far better than the Burnley Away game I went to early in the season. Sorry to bring it up, but your boys were rubbish that day ;)

Tassiemariner - How did you end up watching us against Burnley!? Yes, we were really bad that day. It was our first game in the Championship for 12 seasons and we struggled to adapt to it. We have appointed a new manager since then. The last 3 months have been very promising and it looks like we may get into the play offs for promotion. It has been a very good turnaround!

Jedinak was linked with us in January, probably because his ex manager is now our manager. He has had a brilliant season by all accounts.

I see you guys play tomorrow night in the Champions League. I may have to find an internet stream whilst I'm "busy" at work and see how Sainsbury and you guys get on

Sam,

Championship will be too physical for him initially, may benefit from Euro league somewhere first (as per Jedinak).

Think young Tony Gale, brilliant reader of the game

SamBWFC - Was over your way last summer (that's your summer) and was staying with family 20 minutes from Turf Moor so thought I'd watch. Just outside playoffs seemed a long way off that day but glad you've turned it around!

Can see Trent progressing at either RB or CB when going O/S. If at RB it may take a lot longer to become the player we all know he can be & he may never crack the Aus team. If at CB then I can see him being in the Aus defence for 10 -15 years & play more games than any other outfielder in Aus history.

Get your hands on the Grand final Tape - Mariners vs. WSW played on Sunday 21st. Should have been MOM in most eyes - 2nd half was a blinder cutting off numerous attacks before they got to dangerous.

Also he is to classy to be a butcher - He won't put the fear into any strikers.

Send lots of Cash We need it more than you. Then send us more cash as your money aint what it used to be

FORMER Socceroos goalkeeper Mark Bosnich rates the players in the A-League grand final:
CENTRAL COAST MARINERS
Trent Sainsbury (9) My man of the match. An absolute colossus.

I'm another person who thought Trent should have been man of the match.
Which club Trent ends up at, all Mariners fans know that the club has bought a quality player and will boost any side.

Sainsbury is a favourite of mine.No disrespect to Mcbreen but Sainsbury was head & shoulders above any other player on the field in the GF.
Given a few months he would easily adapt to the Championship, either RB or CB(Better aat CB as stated previously)

Stainsbury would be amazing at right back given time in that position. Also, not all teams use a "wingback" style overlapping play, BUT Yes this season for us cb>rb
