Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Time for Wholesale Changes

Unfortunatley, just having a community behind you want get you where you want to be or where we want you to be. The stakeholders need to have a serious look at the coaching staff and playing roster, whilst also looking at the recruitment policy. If we are going to be any force in any comp in any division we need to have a wholesale clean out. Too Slow, Too Boring, Too Long Ball, Too no quality players. The A-League is moving forward and we are stagnate, stale and stinky.

Ferguson had the balls to let the team know what he thought, I feel McKinna is more media and community orientated so it seems harsh for a lot of people to hear he may need to go. We need a couple of REAL quality players, not third tier English. We must get rid of the family mentality and become a football force. Our recruitment policy needs looking at as we signed a liability again. This is a business and needs to treated like one, none performers no longer required. RESULTS = BUMS ON SEATS

A smart and concise argument, which I fear will be ignored by some because you're a newly registered user.  Don't be put off if some come in here and are all "zomg, you don't know what you're on about" - these sorts of posts (i.e.  not from "regulars") are what the club needs to hear.

Anyone still want to doubt Pim's argument about the A-League being..... well..... shit??  :-\

How about all night Dwight - he had or was close to his Coaches ticket..... player manager anyone???

LM is great for our club and needs to stay in a managerial role and lets be honest he ain't going anywhere as we wouldn't have the $$$ for a new coach....

yep - scum have a win on the board, drew 1-1 away in japan and are still well in the mix for the knockout round.

adelaide won their group last year and made the final, sydney and melbourne both finished second in their groups. only adelaide in 07 failed to make the top two in their group so far.

it's just us that are rubbish.

On the other hand, results don't always indicate the quality of a league, and league position doesn't always either- teams have won international trophies despite having crap seasons domestically. Inter did that once.

I think that McKinna needs to see that playing the same players in the same positions , and they don't measure up on a regular basis is not working. His team can play well, but obviously we carrying some underperforming players every game. Without Simon we should be playing Pim's style 4-2-3-1. Put Disco Nik on the Bench as he isn't performing.

--------------------------Vukovic------------------------------
Porter-------------Wilko------------Boogaard---------------Heff
-------------------Huke------------Pedj------------------------
Elrich-------------------Gumprecht----------------------Caceres
------------------------McCallister-----------------------------

Bench
OGrady, Disco , Hutch, Clark ,Redmayne

When I look at this team I still think we need a real attacking midfielder spot as Gumps will work hard all day and Caceres has not proven himself there. And if Simon is playing I would bench Boogaard put Pedj there and run with a 4-1-3-2.
We seem to lack enough strike power off the bench. None of the players could win you a game in the last 15 minutes IMO

+1, and welcome U35CS!
I agree with the points you raised mate, but unfortunately it is way, way too late, to make wholesale changes for this ACL campaign.

A lot of the hard decisions should have been made at the nd of the 2007/08 season when they knew they had matches like the one against Kawasaki happening in the next 12 months or so.

They chose, however, to retain most of their existing squad and only have brought in Shane Huke to bolster their squad to any great extent. Rizzo hasn't been sighted, so his signing seems futile. At least Kwassi had a go for the short time he was on, but he was up to his old tricks in front of goal chipping that shot over the bar!

At the close of the 2007/08 season the club was on a high and made a very serious bid to retain the services of John Aloi$i, so they obviously had money then. The club has also, since then, received a substantial transfer fee for Mile Jedinak.

On the basis of just those two situations, and the fact we have had space in our playing roster, we should have been able to sign two or three decent midfielders above the quality we fielded against Kawasaki.

Is it possible that we viewed the ACL campaign as less important than next season?

The transfer windows are shut right now so the only players around were makeweights who would suck up our cap for next year if we gave them longer term deals?

The decisions the club makes over June/July will be much more important as we need to be successful in our domestic league before even thinking about Asia.

Oh please tell us when

And yes your right Mr FFC Mariner, the players brought in, or not, over the next open window, will certainly show us all how serious the club is about being a success or a flop

+1.

Maybe when the season ticket renewals come out before the season starts we should all send them a letter saying we won't fork out for whole season unless they sign some quality in the June transfer window?

A number of 'members' holding out on renewals might make them aware we won't tolerate the rubbish that was dished up last Wednesday all the time.

Or just all go the GA season ticket if they do nothing in that transfer window about improving their squad?

ok was a shit game but i dont wanna turn into syd with a different squad ever 6 months or a different coach ever year.

But i would love to see some money being put  into some quality player from So Paulo or a quality asian player, i no we wanted the money out of the partnership but f**k I WANT SOME PLAYERS.

I was thinking about just going GA myself next season instead of the gold halfway line seats.

Tbh I've never had a season ticket in my life until CCM came along and if they had proper turnstiles and a cash gate at Bluetongue I wouldn't have one now.

Much preferred paying my dosh going in and picking my standing spot on the day.

I'm sure we can squeeze up in bay 15 and let 1 more in.

We had 2 bars of our own on Weds, dont even have to walk round the ground
