ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

The Landing - that water view at Bluetongue may be a thing of the past!

Beware least ye know not what is about to befall ye!

Brought to you by that trio of altruistic organisations - NSW State Govt, Gosford City Council, and a yet to be selected private partner (ie. property developer/robber baron).

"The Landing at Gosford is a key state project for the Land & Property Management Authority (LPMA), to be managed locally through the Central Coast Regional Development Corporation (CCRDC) operating from Mt. Penang Parklands, near Gosford. The CCRDC is a statutory government authority created by the Governor of NSW under the Growth Centres (Development Corporations) Act 1974. Formerly known as the Festival Development Corporation."

"Whilst the project is yet to be defined (this will be the role of the LPMA in concert with its partner/s) in terms of outcomes and deliverables, prospective partners can judge the scale of the opportunity by (a) the site size; 97.5 ha of land and seabed, (b) the anticipated value; in excess of $1billion and (c) the anticipated build-out timeframe; in the region of 20 years"

Good luck ....

This has been in the works for nearly 20 years I reckon. They're just finally getting around to it, and hopefully bringing in some of the jobs and investment that the place sorely needs.

Should already exist and the waterfront should be a marina/development/retail

Hopefully those stupid palm trees can go and we get a stand at the end of the ground as part of it

Never mind the trees, the bridge is just as big a problem - there wouldn't be enough room to mirror the northern end trees or not. I think the trees are heritage listed too - they have been at the southern fringe of Grahame Park for X years.

Get State Govt to take over development as State significant

Cut down said trees, move pitch towards bowling club and insert small stand (with roof)

Too easy

Bring in engineers who've worked in Hong Kong/Macau so we get the single best people possible who've had years of experience at reclaiming land (and doing a damn good job of it).

Alas, this is the NSW government we're talking about.  :(

Sheer joy at beating the scum :)
These waterfront development stories pop up every year or so, and then the just seem to fade away. I go up quite often to Townsville, and I'm always impressed with the esplanade up there. Something on a smaller version here would be wonderful, however no one seems to want to turn the first sod. A lot of buck passing is the usual thing here in Gosford, and again nothing happens.

Building a marina is not the most environmentally friendly thing one can do but reclaiming land at the mouth of a waterway is far worse again. Phegan's Bay and Brisbane water already have silt issues and the mangroves rely on tidal flows. Land reclamation is a huge no-no.

Working at HKHS, I was told East Gosford Primary will be moving to our school in 2012. HKHS will be redeveloped i.e knocking down 70% oif building starting 2011.

Sounds great and in the right will deliver most of what the video said...  but I wonders aloud at the timing of the release ....in two marginal seats...

After listening to the link and reading the Q & A .... it does not clearly say ... if they plan to fill in part of the Brisbane Waters shown in the photo in Kev's original post..

Does anyone have any idea if part of the plan is to fill in part of the Brisbane Waters ...

The reason I ask 97 Hectares is a lot of land... then If I look the photo the foreshore is currently parkland ... so where is the 97 Hectares coming from...... answers are more than likely simple ... but do not want to loose any public space park land and not sure I want Brisbane waters filled in...

This.

That's why I suggested experienced landfill engineers, as I thought a section of that highlighted area was getting filled in - the website isn't exactly specific as to what they're up to/intend to be up to.

Would guess its foreshore and marina development rather than reclaimation.

Some are perhaps taking the marked area on the photo a bit too literally thinking that its all going to be filled in or developed somehow. Leaving an area "as is" is also a valid part of a development and I suggest that's the likely scenario in the middle of the bay.

Mate in Queensland said a number of similar developments up their and they have created more problems than they solved... said if it follows QLD examples they create waterfront canals and  are a environmental disaster.

Maybe Gosford Council is trying to recover the money it lost in the GFC...

Given there have been drawings circulating for more than a decade, that's a big fat no.

Another site for info, including the draft masterplan for the area. Specifically, page 16-17 shows an projected image of the area

Had to be done. Now just hope they do a great and environmentally sound job of it.
I think its exciting on many levels.

On another note that Video keeps freaking out with loud static three quarters of the way through. Hopefully not an omen ;)
