Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

I don't think we in NSW & QLD fully understand what these guys go through as RL and Football kinda of live with each other ... OK OK OK it's not all tea & scones at five .. but nothing like what Victoria & Melbourne in particular have to counter ...

Interesting reading if you like this kinda of thing ...

massive, massive blow for australian football and especially victory

on second thought, if they can get another station on board they could cover 100% of games and not just 70% as they do now

though, sen is the major sports station in vic

I wonder ... actually think if it could be proved that the AFL pressured Sen into dropping Football .. which is the tenor of the thread it is a breach of the Trade Practices Act & in Breach of Broadcasting regulations.. where is Dibo when you need him to give some guidence on this...

I'm f**ked if I know why the AFL are so paranoid about football.

Aussie Rules is so huge in the southern states they have nothing to fear from us.

*shakes head*  If indeed it is because of pressure from the AFL, then that is nothing short of a f*cked up decision.  SEN were a _huge_ ally of MV and football in general in the early days of the A-League, and as Mick said, it is a massive blow for all concerned.

MV are easily Australia's biggest club side and you would imagine there is a local station that will step in here.

Maybe mick and the boys should acquire the rights and franchise themselves out.

Not to question you personally midfielder, but were is the story? Can only see a rumour come suggestion from a single poster with no sources to be seen, a juicy conspiracy theory to to add spice to the rumour and the rest on that thread have picked it up and run with it at top pace without question. (I know that never happens on a supporters forum of course :innocent:)
I've searched for info and have come up empty. Anyone else have a link or source for info on this?

The idea that it has something to do with AFL influence is contained in the MV thread as I stated..

Have the AFL  or Sen gone on the public record saying .... the AFL said to Sen drop football or you will not get the AFL contract ... strange as it may seem they have not ... I wonder why .. well my guess is because it would be in breach of the Trade Practices Act & in Breach of Broadcasting regulations if they did..

Remember the email .........

That is the story ... maybe you don't think the AFL would do that ...

Don't read something between my lines that doesn't exist midfielder.

I asked if there was anything to support the hearsay posted that Sen intended to quit broadcasting the A-League. There isn't a source or any other sort of confirmation of the posted claims of SEN's intentions. All there is the unqualified hearsay of a MV fan posted in a fan's forum.
My apology if simply based on a forum post i don't trust the substance of hearsay, and I extend that apology for not also running with a motive or conspiracy behind the hearsay said intentions of SEN.
I mistakenly thought it would be putting the cart before the horse.
